BOSWORTH BROTHERS DOMINATE SPEEDWAY 95 SPORT-FOUR FEATURE

speedway 95Brad and Jayson Bosworth of Cornville led all 35 laps of the Coca Cola Company Sport-Four Series race #1 at Speedway 95 Saturday night, with a surprise twist at the end determining the winner. Brad Bosworth led the first 33 laps of the race with brother Jayson, Newburgh’s Darren Durrell, Milford’s Garett Hayman and Carmel’s Ted Ryder all fighting for positions two through five. When the third caution of the event stopped the action on lap 33 for a solo spin in turn one by Dixmont’s Lewis Batchelder, the Bosworths lined up on the front row for the restart and, when the green fell, Brad resumed his lead when Jayson missed a shift and fell to fifth by the time the field reached turn one.

As luck would have it for Jayson, the yellow flew again before the lap was complete when rookie Dylan Street of Old Town and Hermon’s Andrew Crosby tangled and spun in turn three while jockeying for the sixth spot. Because the lap was not completed, Jayson was placed back in the second position on the restart alongside brother Brad, who was still the leader. When the green flew, it was Brad’s turn to miss a shift, and Jayson assumed the lead which he held for the final two lap run to the checkers. Brad finished in second after a spirited battle with Darren Durrell for the spot. Durrell finished in third with Hayman finishing fourth after racing side by side with Ryder for the final laps with Ryder finishing fifth. Rounding out the top 10 in the 22 car field were Donny Silva of Hudson, Jeremy Scott of Carmel, Dennis and Becky Burns of Carmel , and Dixmont’s Lewis Batchelder. Heat race winners for the night were Jason Trundy of Winterport, Brad Bosworth and Jayson Bosworth.

RAIN WASHES OUT OXFORD PLAINS SPEEDWAY AGAIN

OPS Oxford Plains Speedway

For the second consecutive weekend, rain has forced Oxford Plains Speedway to postpone their Friday night, Budweiser Oxford Championship Racing Series.

“It was just too bad that the rains came in like they did as there were thirty-one Pro Late Models in the pit area stated General Manager, Dick Therrien. It was $5 Buck Friday, presented by 99.9 The Wolf, and the Maine Motorcycle Safety program, and it looked like we were going to have a great crowd as even in the rain the cars were pouring into the parking lot. We have come up with a great plan for the fans to use their tickets.”

MINI-CUP CARS MOVING TO GO-KART SERIES

The newly proposed Mini-Cup division that was scheduled to run weekly in the Budweiser Oxford Championship Series on Friday nights will be moved to the Go-Kart Series that is scheduled to start in June of 2014.

“The division just can’t get off the ground stated Oxford Plains Speedway, General Manager, Dick Therrien. We had quite a bit of interest during our organizational meetings, but the interest apparently were just tire kickers, and unfortunately you can’t race with just a couple of cars. We want to thank Barry Morris and Parker Varney for supporting us, and hopefully some others will join in when the Go-Kart season kicks off.”

Oxford Plains Speedway officials are looking at expanding the numbers of races for the new four cylinder Bandit division which will now debut on Friday, May 30th. A revised schedule will be released in the very near future.
