An overcast rainy day at the Speedway last Saturday caused the races to be cancelled. Racers were on hand and the track had been dried, but yet another round of rainfall began. Ken Minott, track promoter, said, “We wanted to give the guys who came here an opportunity to race, and we thought we had a small window to get the show in, but we were rained out.”
The Strictly Streets and Late Model Sportsman classes are rescheduled to next week, May 18, 2013. They will join the group one line up of racing divisions: Prostock, Super Stock, New England 4-Cylinder Prostock, and Thunder 4’s. The featured race of the week will be a North East Mini Stock Tour 50 lap event. This is the only appearance the NE Mini Stock Tour will make in Maine this season. Outlaw Mini and Mini truck groups are going to be made up at a later date. (more…)
Racing scheduled for Saturday, May 11 at Speedway 95 has been cancelled due to inclement weather. Racing action at the 1/3 mile asphalt oval will continue on Saturday, May 18, with the Dysart’s Late Models scheduled to compete in a regular 40 lap feature event. The Darling’s Ford Sportsman will race a 25 lap feature, while the Strictly Streets and Sport-Fours will each have extended length features in their series events. The Strictly Streets will race 35 laps in the Pepsi Beverage Company series race #1, and the Sport-Fours will race 35 laps in the Coca-Cola series #1 event. Also on the schedule are the Speedway 95 Bombers for a 20 lap feature and the Wicked Good Vintage Racing Association will compete in their feature events. All divisions will also have qualifying races starting at 5:00 p.m. Fans can come early and have a ride with their favorite driver beginning at 4:30 p.m. (more…)

OXFORD, Maine – Gary Chiasson of Peru, Maine, finished second on an afternoon when he almost elected to start at the rear of the field.
Chiasson led most of the Oxford Championship Series 40-lap Pro Late Model feature Sunday afternoon at Oxford Plains Speedway before being moved out of the lead by another competitor, and he held on to finish second in just his second career start in the division.
Considering he almost opted to start at the rear of the field over concerns about how his car was handling, it turned out to be a pretty good day for Chiasson.
“The shocks aren’t really right right now. They’re not really doing what we want them to do, but it was a different set than what we had on there last week,” Chiasson said. “We were hoping for a Top-10 car, so we’ll take second any day.” (more…)
PASS North Series: Reid Lanpher Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Race Report
SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Reid Lanpher of Manchester, Maine, finished 23rd in the PASS North Series Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, May 4. Lanpher became the youngest driver ever to qualify for a PASS North Series race at Beech Ridge and the youngest driver ever to lead laps in a series event. The 14-year-old JR Motorsports development driver won his first-round qualifying heat race and started third in the 28-car field. He took the lead on Lap 5 and held it until a restart on Lap 36, after which he suffered a flat right rear tire and was forced to pit. While working back up through traffic, he was involved in an incident on the backstretch and ended up with a hard hit into the Turn 3 wall which ended his day on Lap 120. (more…)

BRADFORD, VT – Multi-time and defending DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Champion Adam Pierson put on a clinic Night at Bear Ridge Speedway on Saturday, winning the 50-lap DIRTcar Sportsman Modified double points feature on KDD Napa night. Pierson, of Fairlee, VT, started tenth on the grid and took the lead on lap 11, rolling to an easy win. Kevin Chaffee finished second with Bryan King third. (more…)
