Scarborough,Maine- Ben Tinker made his first ever Sport Series win at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway a memorable one by capturing the biggest race of the season for the division. Tinker took the lead at the drop of the green flag and led the opening 38 laps of the race despite challenges from Russ Morse and Chris Smith. Chris Smith took over the lead on lap 39 as Corey Bubar moved to second place and Tinker dropped to third. A caution flag waved on lap 51 when the fourth and fifth place cars of Sally Gherardi and Russ Morse made contact with both cars spinning in turn four. Smith would go back to the front until another caution came out at lap 68.

OXFORD, Maine – The first Wednesday night Oxford Acceleration Series event of the year started off in great fashion, with 116 cars registering for competition. While most of the five competing series had raced at least once on Saturday nights, this was the first time they would all compete on the same night.

Jun 17, 2010 | Speedway 95
Hermon’s Andrew Crosby led the entire distance of the 20 lap Little Enduro feature event at Speedway 95 Wednesday night, but only by inches most of the way. David Ogden of Old Town was either right on Crosby’s bumper or right beside him all the way from the green to the checker, but was unable to make the pass that would put him in first place. Ogden finished a close second, followed by last year’s champion Paul Higgins of Newburgh. Chris Carroll of Green bush finished fourth, with Hampden’s Travis Beale in fifth. Twenty-one cars attempted to start the event, but a red flag fell before all the cars crossed the start-finish line. David Ogden got spun on the start, and did a 360 in front of the pack, but recovered to put on a great show dueling for the lead. Only A.J. Jordan of Hermon could not continue following the first lap melee.

OXFORD, Maine – Dennis Spencer, Jr. made up for the first few weeks of mid-pack finishes with a dominating performance in the Oxford Networks Late Model Feature on Sun Journal Night. Spencer, Jr. made the move around pole sitter and race leader Al Hammond on lap 8, and opened up a sizable lead on the field. Scott Luce moved into second a few laps later and gave chase, but could not get any closer than within a few car lengths of the Spencer’s speedy #3. Tommy Ricker once again put on a strong performance as he charged through the field. Ricker moved up to 12th by lap 15, and jumped to 7th by lap 22. With just 10 laps to go he caught third place runner Tim Brackett, who made another strong run in his #60 before getting passed by Ricker for the third and final podium spot with just 5 circuits remaining. Spencer, Jr. beat Scott Luce by two car lengths with Ricker a distant third. Tim and T.J. Brackett rounded out the top 5.

(Wiscasset, ME) The new Knox Brothers Carquest and Ray Haskell Ford Enduro divisions held the spotlight this past Sunday at The Wiscasset Raceway. The all classes Enduro feature was won by #32 Kevin Morse of Woolwich who passed #14 Justin White of Wiscasset with just a handful of laps to go in the 30 lap feature. There was also the first sighting of the much anticipated racing mini-vans! It was discovered that they can apparently spin out 360 degrees and recover just fine. The real excitement came when #83, Mike St. Germain of Auburn was bumped by one of the mini vans right in front of the grandstands. The #83 Enduro hit the wall, was lifted in the air and landed on it’s roof! Mike St. Germain immediately scrambled out of the car and bowed to the crowd. Then he gestured to the track crew who helped him flip the car back over and continued the race in his smoking #83! Mike certainly embodies the spirit of the Enduro racer. What a great race.
