Scarborough,Maine- Returning to full time competition for 2010, Trevor Sanborn wasted little time getting acquainted with his old stomping grounds. In fact Sanborn enjoyed victory lane so much in the past that he used the first night of NASCAR Whelan All American Series racing to pay a visit to the winners circle. Sanborn bolted from the outside pole position to lead the opening laps with Dan McKeage and Brad Babb following along. A four car battle for fourth position was shaping up with combatants

A Fine Memorial: Unity Raceway Readies For ‘300’ Weekend
Track to host 200-lap Late Model event as part of extravaganza
UNITY, Maine — In the spirit of holiday giving, Unity Raceway track operator George Fernald Jr. wanted to give race teams and fans something different. In doing so, he may have created Maine’s newest racing tradition.
Unity will hold its 1st annual Memorial 300 on Friday and Saturday, May 28-29 — an event highlighted by the $3,000-to-win Late Model 200. Also on the card is a 100-lap Wildcat feature offering $1,000 to the winner.
“We’re excited about this weekend,” Fernald said. “We hope it’s the start of a great new holiday tradition here.”

PARRITT WIRES 95 LATE MODEL FEATURE AT SPEEDWAY 95
Brenton Parritt of Steuben took off from the outside pole position in the 35 lap Dysart’s Late Model feature at Speedway 95 Sunday afternoon and held the lead through two restarts to post his first win of the young season. Parritt was challenged by Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs in the early going and on the restarts, but Seekins eventually settled into the second spot, where he finished. It wasn’t an easy second place finish for Seekins, though, as he faced tough competition from both Josh St. Clair of Liberty and Dale Swoboda of Hermon. Both St. Clair and Swoboda were using the inside groove to move past traffic as they both started near the rear of the field due to their top three finishes last week. Swoboda and St. Clair had passed Seekins and were battling for the second spot , Swoboda on the outside and St. Clair on the inside, when they came together on the front stretch on lap 25, eliminating both cars for the remainder of the event. Seekins then regained the second spot and held it to the end. Bangor’s Doug Day finished the race in third, followed by John Kalel II of Orrington in fourth and Nick Kinney of Danforth in fifth. Seekins won the day’s 15 lap qualifier.

Unity, Maine — Saturday night racing returns to Unity Raceway for the first time in several years, effective immediately, promoter George Fernald, Jr. has announced. The track had previously published a 2010 schedule consisting primarily of Friday night race cards with a post time of 6:30 p.m. These events have now been rescheduled for Saturdays, with the first race scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
The events scheduled for this Saturday (May 22) and Saturday, May 29 will start as 4:00 p.m. as previously announced. The Friday night preliminary racing card for May 29’s Memorial 300 racing program will take place as scheduled, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
