NAPLES, ME (July 28) – With the 43rd Annual HP Hood Oxford 250 just a month away, Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model teams will have one more opportunity to prepare at Oxford Plains Speedway with this Sunday afternoon’s HP Hood 150. Over 50 teams have pre-entered for the HP Hood Oxford 250 to date and, with over 70 teams expected for the biggest and most prestigious Super Late Model race in the North America, track time at Oxford Plains will be at a premium. In addition, a full slate of local action will be on tap Saturday night at Oxford Plains Speedway, featuring the Budweiser Super Late Models, with an additional practice scheduled for the headline division to give teams as much track time as possible.
Two-time HP Hood Oxford 250 winner, Travis Benjamin, is looking to take advantage of every opportunity available to get on track at Oxford Plains. After getting caught up in an early crash last year, Benjamin hopes this weekend that he and the Petit Motorsports team can get the data that they need to help him get back to victory lane when they return in late August.

Taylor Lane of Phillips, ME. Is the driver of the #70 mini cup at Richmond Karting Speedway (RKS). This weekend the Taylor is gearing up for another round of racing, at RKS. “For the most part yes, there was no damage from Friday nights race, so all we’ve got to do is a few finishing touches.”
With 5 top 3 finished and 2 wins Taylor has no problems getting around at RKS. “Know your car: how it handles in all of the turns, how much it pulls on the straights, and how far you can push it. Also, know your competition, where they are and aren’t good, that helps too.”

WISCASSET, MAINE – Last Saturday night marked the anniversary of some important historical events. In 2007, Honda produced the six millionth Civic. The 1996 US Women’s Gymnastics team brought home the first gold; Vanessa Williams was the first winner in pageant history to resign in 1984; and deep in the heart of Lincoln County, Wiscasset Speedway opened in 1969. For 47 years, it has operated as Maine’s fastest track. Even though drivers showed up wearing fire suits instead of their birthday suits, each division had obviously come to party.
In an epic Late Model Sportsman double-header, the St. Clair Family from Liberty kept winning relative. Josh of the #33 took first in the rescheduled race, while his grandfather, Dave, won in the second. Sponsored by Kennebec Equipment Rental, the Outlaw Minis rocked a 75-lap Madness Spotlight Feature where Zach Audet of the #19me proved hard work pays off when he accepted first place in victory lane. Other winners included Ben Tinker of the #19 from New Gloucester for the NAPA Modified and Kyle Hewins of the #51 from Leeds for the Strictly Streets.

12 races, 12 winners in weekly 50-lap Super Late Model races
Oxford, Maine – Kyle Treadwell of Buckfield outran the Super Late Model field by a comfortable margin Saturday night, becoming the 12th winner in twelve Budweiser Championship Series races for the top-tier class at Oxford Plains Speedway this season.
Treadwell started from the pole and survived the race’s line restart with one lap one the scoreboard. Shawn Knight of South Paris prevailed in a near-racelong battle against Anson’s Scott Moore for runner-up honors.
Scott Robbins of Dixfield was best in class among previous winners, finishing fourth after starting 11th. Alan Wilson of Hebron rounded out the top five. Turner’s Shawn Martin led an all-2016 winner second five including reigning champion Timmy Brackett of Buckfield, Oxford’s Dennis Spencer, Buckfield’s TJ Brackett and Gary Smith of Bangor.

WISCASSET, MAINE – If you ever want to see what dedication looks like, visit the pits at Wiscasset Speedway during the summertime. Although temperatures on Saturday afternoon reached into the eighties, the courageous crews continued to run through race day preparations as if they were trying to keep warm. Even more impressive were the drivers themselves, who voluntarily zipped up in full body fire suits and entered cars known to reach temperatures of up to 120 degrees – all for the love of racing. Take a minute to consider how many people you know with that kind of endurance, while we review the blistering action from this past weekend.
Skipping the pleasantries, the Super Streets got down to business for their 25-lap spotlight race. Points’ leader, Mark Lucas of the #5 car, battled Jason Curtis, driving the #02, for dominance throughout the first five laps. After waging war from the outer lane, Lucas pulled ahead to take the first position, leaving Curtis to play catch up. Several car lengths behind, crowd-favorite Josh Bailey of the #2 car, kept Kenny Harrison of the #85 at bay, with the latter trying everything he could to make a comeback on the corners. With drama low and speeds high, Lucas was free to cruise like a teenager driving unsupervised for the first time – not a care in the world! With the night’s first caution and regroup came adulthood for Lucas, who spent the final laps successfully defending first place for his fourth season win. Curtis earned second place for the power that he had brought to the spotlight feature, with Bailey taking home third.

NAPLES, ME (July 14) – Entries from every corner of the United States, as well as Canada, continue to make their way into the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) offices for the 43rd Annual HP Hood Oxford 250. Annually, the best attended race for both fans and participants, the HP Hood Oxford 250 will take place on August 26-28 at the legendary Oxford Plains Speedway, paying $25,000 to the winner. With additional lap leader bonus money also on the line, this year’s HP Hood Oxford 250 winner could potentially take home up to $50,000.
Several drivers have already punched their tickets to the prestigious race through the “Road To The Oxford 250” qualifying events, including this year’s Easter Bunny 150 winner, Ben Rowe, and Wayne Helliwell, Jr., Scott Farrington, and Florida’s Dalton Sargeant, each who advanced through a recent “non-winner’s” race at Oxford Plains a couple of weeks ago.
