Lashua Defends Turf, Wins Granite State Pro Stock Series Canaan 100

Hometown racing veteran takes win at Canaan Fair Speedway

CANAAN, NH — Hometown stock car racer Donnie Lashua took the lead from polesitter Cory Roberts on lap 39 to score his first career Granite State Pro Stock Series win Sunday in the 100-lap event at Canaan Fair Speedway.

Lashua started third in the 18-car field and patiently rode behind Roberts for the first third of the race. The veteran Lashua was able to work inside of Roberts and snag the lead for the remainder of the race, but had to hold him off on three late race restarts.

SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, finished second in the PASS North Series SouthernMaineMotors.com 300 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Sunday, September 16. After a crash in qualifying on Saturday, Doiron started 26th in the 32-car field and drove all the way to the Top-10 by the midway point of the season’s longest race. The No. 73 JBJ Machine/Scarborough Downs Chevrolet led for more than 20 laps in the late stages of the event, but he was overtaken on a restart with just 19 laps remaining and couldn’t regain track position lost following contact with a lapped car. It was Doiron’s second Top-2 finish in three starts at Beech Ridge this season.

OKTOBERFEST WEEKEND AT LEE USA SPEEDWAY, OCT 19th THRU 21st

Oktoberfest, Lee USA Speedway’s traditional season ending weekend racing bash, will commence on October 19th through the 21st. Over 300 cars from all over the northeast are expected to compete in the 12 divisions of race cars that will be featured. Last year seven states and several Canadian provinces were represented, the farthest coming from Nova Scotia. This year, three series championships will be decided, and for the rest, bragging rights throughout the winter will be on the line. Everyone wants to win their Oktoberfest feature event.

More importantly however, Oktoberfest is about fun for all. A full itinerary of social events will complement the non-stop racing action throughout the weekend. A Friday night Beer Bash will follow practice for all divisions from 3PM to 7PM. Breakfast will be offered on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Also, on Friday and Saturday nights, there will be hay rides for kids big and small. Then after Saturday’s heat race action, another Lee USA Oktoberfest tradition, the Spaghetti Supper with a DJ and dancing until late into the night. Fan and competitor commradery will be the weekend’s theme.

Patrick Laperle Claims Second Straight Castrol Title with St-Eustache 300 Win

St-Eustache, QC – St-Denis, Quebec’s Patrick Laperle claimed his second straight Série ACT Castrol Championship with his fourth win of the season in the St-Eustache 300 at Autodrome St-Eustache on Sunday, September 16. Laperle cruised to the win leading the final 50 laps of the event after getting by Jonathan Bouvrette who held on for second. Karl Allard climbed his way back to third after bringing out a caution on lap 277 and restarting at the rear. Dany Trepanier and Patrick Hamel completed the top five.

Rookie Etienne Cliche finished sixth as the final car on the lead lap. Martin Goulet, Jr., Simon Roussin, David Michaud and Jacques Poulin completed the top ten. Second place point man Jean-Franoiçois Déry was involved in an early caution and spent an extended period of time on pit road changing a radiator and making front end repairs, which ended his title hopes. He finished fourteenth, thirty laps down.

Pembroke Wins VT State Championship by One

Dragon Wins Vermont 100 in Dramatic Fashion

West Haven, VT – Milton, VT’s Brent Dragon proved himself as one of the greats in the most dramatic race of the year at the Vermont State Championship Series finale at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, September 16. Chip Grenier finished a heart-breaking second, and the Mad River Valley’s Brooks Clark stole third in the closing laps.

Grenier shot to the lead in the early going, working around pole sitter Clark to gain the lead on the third lap of the event, but third-place point man Dragon stole it away from him on the eleventh circuit. Dragon’s lead was short lived when 7-time American Canadian Tour Champion Jean Paul Cyr worked to the front, where the pair survived 7 of the first 9 cautions on the front row together. While Dragon fought for the lead, tied point leaders Sweet and Pembroke struggled.

PASS 300 At Beech Ridge A Highlight For Mulkern, Sommerville

FALMOUTH, Maine – If there’s one win that Mulkern Racing would really like to have for themselves, it’s a victory in the longest and most prestigious race on the PASS North Series schedule.

Team owner Scott Mulkern of Falmouth finished second in the SouthernMaineMotors.com 300 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway last season, and he and Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, New Brunswick, will both take aim at the checkered flag in the event this time around on Sunday, September 16. Qualifying for the longest race on the schedule begins at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, with the main event slated for approximately 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Both Mulkern Racing entries have victories at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on their respective resumes, most recently Sommerville who took the PASS 150 at the track in July of 2011 with the No. 48 A.E. McKay Builders/Southern Maine Motors Chevrolet.
