Barre, VT – Round two of the 2012 Vermont State Late Model Championship Series moves to Devil’s Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT for this Friday night’s “I Am Vermont Strong” 100. Barre, VT sensation Nick Sweet leads the standings in the four race series after a convincing round one victory over Lt. Governor Phil Scott held at Barre’s Thunder Road. Just seven points separate the two former track champions.
Two points behind Scott rides Milton’s Brent Dragon, the only series driver that has captured a Devil’s Bowl Speedway victory in 2012. With only a two-point difference between each finishing position, and a five-point bonus for winning, the Vermont State Championship is up for grabs for more than just the top three.

NAPLES ME (6/7) The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North super late models venture north to Maritime Canada for their annual appearance at Geary New Brunswick’s Speedway 660 on Saturday June 9. It’s a road trip that every PASS team looks forward to and a rare home turf appearance for the New Brunswick racers that follow the series.
Lonnie Sommerville will be on familiar ground Saturday; he’s won the tracks Auto Value 250 event twice but a PASS North 660 win is definitely on his bucket list. Sommerville is currently third in the season long point standings with a top five and two top ten finishes after three starts, and he will look for win number one of 2012 on Saturday night. Matt Matheson calls Geary New Brunswick home and his team will appreciate the home game atmosphere at Speedway 660, where the PASS road show always plays to a packed house. PASS newcomer Matt Harris lives just up the road in Fredericton Junction and he will have the home track advantage on his side as well. Chris Duncan rounds out the list of early New Brunswick early entries that will take on their USA counterparts.

Barre, VT – Racing historian Cho Lee of Barre, VT will be remembered at Thunder Road this Sunday, June 10 in the racetrack’s first seasonal weekly program presented by Sherwin-Williams. It will be the first of two twilight Sunday affairs for the high-banked oval before weekly Thursday night racing begins.
Lee, who co-authored “Fifty Years of Excitement” documenting Thunder Road’s history, will be remembered by the New England Antique Racers with the Cho Lee Memorial Race. More than thirty vintage racecars are expected to join Thunder Road’s three weekly racing divisions in Sunday’s event.

This Weekend after Getting Washed Out in March
Charlotte, NC 6/5/12- After getting washed out on March 24th in what would have been the second PASS South Series race of 2012; the series returns to the South Boston (VA) Speedway this Saturday night for race six of the season schedule. Kyle Grissom coming off his win at the Concord (NC) Speedway in the series’ last outing will lead the field of drivers into the 4/10th mile track in control of the championship standings. Grissom, lead by crew chief Greg Marlow, has already picked up two wins this season in his first year of super late model competition. The guy right on his heels is Winston-Salem, North Carolina driver Brandon Ward. Ward picked up his first career win at Wake County Speedway leading all 125 laps on his way to victory. He and his New Day Motorsports team are just ten points out of the top spot showcasing the model of consistency.

Johnny Clark is no stranger to Speedway 660. The 33 year old Farmingdale, Maine short-track racer loves to visit the Geary Woods. On Saturday at 7PM Clark will attempt to win his third straight PASS 200 event at Speedway 660.
The defending Pro All Star Series champion heads a star-studded field of drivers who will make the tour’s only visit of the year to Atlantic Canada. In addition to his 2010 and 2011 PASS 200 wins, Clark has two SPEEDWEEKEND Auto Value 250 victories at Speedway 660.
“Johnny Clark loves this joint and our fans know he will race his heart out for them and do everything possible to win his third straight PASS 200 race here” says Speedway 660’s Chris Johnston. “But the six time PASS champion will have to be at his absolute best to hoist the trophy on Saturday night because the Pro All Star Series competition is unbelievably tough.”

LOUDON, N.H. (June 5, 2012) – It’s still a little over a month before NASCAR invades “The Magic Mile,” but the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour got an early jumpstart in preparation for the Town Fair Tire 100 on July 14. Some of the top stars in the series took to the track on Tuesday, testing everything from tire pressure to gear boxes.
“As far as driving the track, I don’t think we’re going to learn anything,” said Todd Szegedy, who has two wins and 14 top-10’s in 19 careers starts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. “Track time is always good. … Hopefully, if we learn a little something it will be good for us when we come back.”
