FORT KENT, Maine – Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, continued his roll as one of the hottest drivers on the ACT Late Model Tour with a second-place finish in the Q 97.9 FM 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, on Saturday, August 20. It was Theriault’s third straight Top-5 finish in ACT competition and matched his previous career-best finish of second, which he also achieved at New Hampshire Motor Speedway one week earlier. After winning the pole for the rain-hampered event at Oxford, the 17-year-old driver held onto fifth in the overall series standings. He now heads to Riverside Speedway in St. Croix, Que., an oddly-shaped .625-mile triangular oval, for the Can-Am 200 on Saturday, August 27. It is a combination race for the ACT Late Model Tour and ACT Castrol Series.

Beech RidgeScarborough,Maine- Following 3 straight second place finishes, Saturday night Aaron Ricker was to be denied no more as the young driver scored his first Pro Series win at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. The headline division of the NASCAR All American Series fielded 20 cars on Saturday night with Ricker starting from position 16. Tyler King led the opening 3 laps before yielding to Steve Carrier following a lap 4 caution flag. Carrier would stay out front until lap 10 when Joey Doiron slipped into the lead using the inside line. While all of this was going on, Ricker had moved through traffic to be third by lap 17. On lap 19, Ricker dismissed Carrier for second place and set his sights on Doiron. (more…)

Tim Turner returns, conquers Unity Raceway Late Models

Unity, Maine — Tim Turner of Freedom was no stranger to victory lane when weekly Pro Stock racing topped the card at Unity Raceway. For the past couple of seasons Tim has been hard at work passing the baton to a third generation of successful Turner wheelman, son Dylan – a multi-race winner in the track’s premiere Late Model division.

The elder Turner decided he’d knock off some rust on Saturday night, and drove to victory lane 35-lap Late Model feature after swapping the lead late in the event with East Madison’s Jeff Burgess, the track’s second-ranked driver in the championship standings.
