Lee USA Speedway Gearing Up For Season Opener

Lee, NH – With the traditional American-Canadian Tour “Governors Cup 150” April 16 & 17, and the 2011 season opener featuring weekly NASCAR sanctioned stock car racing beginning May 6, Lee USA Speedway officials are busily preparing for the new season, the 25th year under the ownership of Red and Judy MacDonald.

The new schedule includes everything from a weekly four-in-one program to special events with the ISMA Supermodifieds, Valenti Modified Racing Series, NEMA Midgets, PASS Super-Late Models, and a special Pro-Stock Series partnered with Canaan Fair Speedway, Canaan, NH.

THOMPSON’S ICEBREAKER JUST AROUND THE CORNER

THOMPSON, CT The long, hard New England winter has finally lost its grip on the region and one of the first signs of spring, the Icebreaker at Thompson International Speedway, is getting closer by the day. The winter’s snow and ice have finally disappeared. As a result, work on and around the historic speedway has reached a fever pitch in preparation for the season-opening Icebreaker slated for the weekend of April 9 & 10.

Autodrome St-Eustache and Autodrome Chaudière Swap Opening Dates

Waterbury, VT – American Canadian Tour (ACT) officials announced today the 2011 Série Castrol Edge season opener on Saturday, May 21 has been changed from Autodrome St-Eustache in St-Eustache, Quebec, to the 1/3 mile Autodrome Chaudière in Vallée-Jonction, Quebec. The 100 lap St-Eustache event has been moved to Saturday, June 4.

The two speedways agreed to switch their opening Série Castrol Edge dates last week. It will be the first time since 2007 that the Série Castrol Edge season opener will not be held at the fast ½ mile of Autodrome St-Eustache. Autodrome Chaudière will hold the opener for the first time in Série Castrol Edge history as part of their 20th season celebration. Both tracks have three ACT events scheduled for the 2011 season including the Showdown at Chaudière all-star event in September. (more…)

Lakes Region Ice Racing Club – Ray Eldridge Memorial event

Moultonboro, NH – The Lakes Region Ice Racing ran its annual Ray Eldridge Memorial race this week. Ray was a young man that, along with several members of the Eldridge family, was active in the local ice races. The races were moved Lee Pond this week due to melting at the Berry Pond entrance. The track on Lee Pond was quickly prepared by plowing and the ice was perfect.

With the promise of improving weather, the races got underway in a light snow with double qualifying heats. After the heats, racers and fans enjoyed an intermission with hamburgers and hot dogs as well as Girl Scout cookies. With full bellies and warmed up by hot coffee and cocoa, the day’s feature events were lined up.

SALEM, N.H. (Feb. 26, 2011) — Veteran snocross racer Mathieu Morin rolled into southern New Hampshire this weekend with one thing on his mind – to win more finals and take another step towards securing the 2011 Pro titles.

Morin (Ingles Performance/Ski-doo), of Val-D-Or, Quebec, is a little closer to reaching that goal, as he dominated the Pro Stock final in East Coast Snocoss (ECS) series competition Saturday afternoon at Rockingham Park.
