This Sunday marks the 2nd year of the raceway being leased and operated by Nick Huff. Taking over the track in mid August of 2014, after no signs of opening for the year by any other parties, Huff was able to quickly put together a 4 race schedule that began August 17th. All events were successful, and most importantly, Huff accomplished his goal of continuing the 2 day Long John tradition that hasn’t missed a year since it’s beginning thanks to him. Time has surely flown by, and it’s been a great ride that is soon to come to an end with the recent purchase of the raceway.
Management will change hands in 2017, but racing will surely continue. We hope this will not come with many changes though, as we have proven that Nick’s ideas and philosophy on what’s best for the raceway are certainly a step in the right direction. We want to thank you for your continued support of Unity Raceway, for all of the 68 years of it’s presence, and especially these last couple. Lets pack the stands this Sunday August 21st, for 7 divisions of our continually growing car counts and exciting racing all for just $5 beginning at 2:30pm, and show that Unity Raceway can’t be stopped thru thick and thin. SOUTH BOSTON, VA (August 13) – Veteran Jeff Fultz outlasted a strong field of Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models Saturday night at South Boston Speedway to take his long awaited first career victory in the series. The win by Fultz was made even more meaningful by the fact that he becomes the 50th different winner in the series dating back to its beginnings in 2006.
“I just love South Boston and I don’t get to race much anymore, plus the guys worked all day in 100 degree heat to get this car right,” said Fultz of his milestone win. “I’ve never won a PASS race, three white flags and we’re leading and the caution comes out and we end up losing. It’s a tough series and they race everywhere. I’ve finally got something to put on my resume that I have been waiting a long time to get.”

The weather cleared, and a window of opportunity opened to complete the races at Wiscasset Speedway last Saturday night. The threat of rain led race officials to eliminate heat races, and run the feature events with ten additional laps added to each feature. A thirty lap Thunder Four Mini event was the Spotlighted feature race of the evening. There was double the fun when the Amsoil Nelcar Legends appeared in two separate feature races. Other Group One races included Servpro of Biddeford Saco Prostocks, Super Street, and N.E. 4 Cylinder Prostocks.
A thirty lap Thunder Four Mini feature was the main event of the evening. Starting on the pole was the #007 of Destiny McKenzie. To her right was the #41 of Logan Melcher. Starting in third was David Greenleaf of the #58. When the green flag flew, there was some early race action as cars jockeyed for position. Melcher advanced to first before the conclusion of the first lap. The #26 of Micheal Golding sped to second. Joe Katula of the #4J advanced to third. During lap five, the #48 of Michael Harrison took third from Katula. During lap ten, race leader Melcher slid up the track coming out of turn four. Golding took advantage of the opportunity and passed him for the lead. The race leaders stayed consistent for the for the remainder of the caution free race. Michael Golding took first place for his second victory of the season. Logan Melcher came in second. Michael Harrison rounded out the top three in third while maintaining his hold on the division’s point lead.

Lee, New Hampshire – Pro All Stars Series rookie Derek Griffith of Hudson nailed down his first victory on the region’s premier Super Late Model circuit, scoring near home in Friday night’s 150-lap race at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, New Hampshire.
Griffith was impressive aboard the Louie Mechalides-prepared racecar, chasing former Thompson Speedway Super Late Model champ Derek Ramstrom for the first 50-plus laps, swapping the lead with the West Boylston, Massachusetts native for most of the remaining laps before pulling away from his rivals during the final handful of laps.
Ramstrom claimed runner-up honors after an entertaining, late-race battle with six-time PASS champion Johnny Clark of Farmingdale, Maine. Clark started the race in tenth position and crossed the finish line third behind Griffith and Ramstrom, remaining a serious threat to claim his seventh series title.
