Lee Speedway 2016 Season

lee1Lee, NH – Lee USA Speedway owners and promoters Red and Judy MacDonald are getting ready for their 30th consecutive season operating “New Hampshire’s Center of Speed”, and dozens of teams are busy in their shops doing their cars to prepare for the Friday night regular season opener on May 27th.

 

The 2016 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Lee USA will once again be headlined by the EKeys4cars Supermodifieds, with the R & R Public Wholesalers “The Tool Store and More” Late Model Sportsmen, David’s Race Cars and Components Hobby Stocks, Tri-City Line-X Ironman, and              MLM Diagnostics Pure Stock divisions rounding out the weekly program.

 

Defending and four-time (2010, 2012, 2013, 2015) Super Modified champion Tommy Tombarello Jr., of Haverhill, MA will once again be the man to beat in the Supers, coming of an impressive five-win season that brought him to the title once again last year.  Tommy wrecked hard on championship night in 2015, but his team has been hard at work and will have the champ ready to go for the opener.

Jake Matheson #52 – “The key to a good lap.”

Jake Matheson, of Hillsboro, NH., will be back in the #52 Bandolero Car racing in the ProWraps Series at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS).

The driver of the #52 car has been keeping busy in the off season, doing what he loves most. “I have been doing a lot of IRacing and driving at Maine Indoor Karting during the off season.”

Jake has already been turning some laps down south this season. “We already ran the US Legends Winter Nationals in Orlando and came in 3rd overall!” (more…)

Max Zachem Looking to Break the Ice.

Max Zachem is ready to get back behind the wheel of the #14 Whelen Modified car as the tour gets set to kick off the 2016 race season in the “Icebreaker 150” at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on April 10th.

 

Max has been keeping busy during the winter months, “This offseason has been really busy. I started a new job working for M2 Services as a contractor (painter/sandblaster) for Army National Guard. Also, I am a corner flag man for the Len Sammons Productions Indoor races. In between that MPZ Motorsports has been searching for sponsors and rebuilding our program for 2016.

New NEMST Photographer For 2016 Season

NEMST01The North East Mini Stock Tour is pleased to announce a new official photographer for the 2016 racing season. The new photographer is currently covering events in Florida for Area Auto Racing News and has spent many season shooting across New England speedways as well as being the official photographer for Canaan Fair Speedway and Claremont Speedway.

Wally Morton of Extreme Action Photo will be taking the controls this year while documenting the exciting NEMST action all across the region with his great photography skills. “Wally is an asset to add to the NEMST group of officials and will give our teams access to the shots they need to show appreciation of current supporters while giving high action photos to bring new sponsors and fans into the series” NEMST Promoter Bob Guptill said. Excitement Building for Junior Champ Karts at Thunder Road

thunderBarre, VT – Excitement is quickly growing for the return of youth Go-Kart racing at Barre, VT’s Thunder Road in 2016. An informational meeting held on Tuesday, January 19 for the Junior Champ Kart division drew attendance and interest from more than 20 youth competitors and their families throughout Vermont and New Hampshire.

“Everyone at the meeting seemed pretty excited about it,” Thunder Road Race Director Cris Michaud said. “People are really interested in the way that we’re doing it. There won’t be any points awarded, so people can just come out and enjoy racing without the pressure of worrying about points. We think that’s the best way to keep things fun for young competitors.” (more…)

GSPSS Announces 2016 Race Schedule

graphic_GSPSSThe Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) has announced an 11-race schedule for the 2016 season. The schedule includes stops at Riverhead Raceway and Wiscasset Speedway for the first time in series history, along with eight races in the state of New Hampshire and one in Connecticut.

The season will start on Friday May 13, when the Pro Stocks travel to Claremont Speedway in Claremont, New Hampshire. In August of 2011, Chris Wilk scored the victory at Claremont, while in April of 2015, eventual series champion Derek Griffith took down the checkered flag. (more…)
