The New Hampshire driver is looking for his fifth win of 2015

(Epping, NH) – As the year winds down, the goal for young racer Derek Griffith becomes clearer. The Hudson, NH native is looking to secure his first Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) Championship.This weekend the GSPSS will invade Star Speedway as part of the 50th Annual Star Classic and will stage a 100 lap event on Sunday September 12, 2015.

Griffith, the driver of the No. 12 MOM’s of Manchester/LCM Racing Toyota Camry leads the second place point runner of Barry Gray by 30 points entering the second to last points counting event. “We have two events left; we are very excited to be racing as part of the prestigious Star Classic this year. We always run well there. The last time we raced there, we grabbed a victory” Said Griffith. (more…)

Tombarello, Sands, Dumas, Washburn, and Tellier secure Lee USA Speedway championships, Barthelemy, Eldridge, Evans, Horvath and Mailhot take feature wins.

Lee, NH –  It was championship night at Lee USA Speedway on Friday, the final weekly program for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions to decide the 2015 division titles at “New Hampshire‘s Center of Speed“.

Haverhill, MA’s Tommy Tombarello, Jr. locked up another Supermodified championship title, but his season didn’t end quite the way he would have liked.  He was involved in a scary incident during his qualifying heat, slamming the retaining wall and destroying his championship machine.  Tombarello was uninjured in the hard wreck and joined the post-race festivities to accept his championship.

Barre, VT – Local racer Nick Sweet made his move on a late restart to become the first three-time winner of the Coca-Cola Labor Day Classic 200 at Barre’s Thunder Road on Sunday, September 6 while Derrick O’Donnell put the finishing touches on his third straight “King of the Road” crown.

Sweet methodically worked his way through the field after pitting for right-side tires on a lap-78 caution and found himself alongside leader Brett Gervais of Island Pond on a restart with 22 laps remaining after O’Donnell shut down while battling for third.

ACT Tunes Up for Bond Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

RPM_6310Loudon, NH – The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) held its annual Test and Tune session Wednesday, August 26 at Loudon’s New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Twenty-four ACT Late Model drivers took to the track in preparation for the 7th Annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational Saturday, September 26

 

Lempster, NH’s Guy Caron set the fast time of the day with a lap of 31.926 seconds. Three-time Invitational winner Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, MA was second-fastest at 31.974 seconds and ranked at the top of the charts in nearly every session.

Laquerre Elected to New England Auto Racing Hall of Fame

Barre, VT – Thunder Road racing legend and family patriarch Joey Laquerre of East Montpelier has been elected to the New England Auto Racing (NEAR) Hall of Fame’s Class of 2015.

 

The 71-year-old Laquerre is the all-time winningest driver at Barre’s Thunder Road with 45 wins, including a record 17 in the Tiger Sportsmen and 14 in the Late Models. His most recent Thunder Road victory came in a Late Model feature on June 5, 2014. Laquerre was the 1982 “King of the Road” and also won five championships in the Mini Stock division between 1973 and 1980.

Thunder Road Thursday Season Nears Checkered Flag with Jet Service/Acura Night

Barre, VT – The next-to-last Thursday night event of the 56th Thunder Road racing season is this Thursday, August 20 with Jet Service Envelope/Accura Printing Night. N. Haverhill, NH’s Derrick O’Donnell is just three races away from a record-tying third consecutive “King of the Road” title, making each spot critical this Thursday night.

 

The evening will also feature the annual “Run-What-U-Brung” spectator races, allowing people to race their registered and inspected street vehicles mano-a-mano around the ¼-mile oval. Participants must register at the pit gate by 5:30pm, purchase a pit pass, and wear a full racing helmet.
