Thunder Road Street Stock Disqualifications Announced

troadBarre, VT – Following last Sunday’s (8/11) 50-lap Street Stock special at Barre’s Thunder Road, engines were torn down and checked. Thunder Road officials have announced the engines of #38 five-time winner Greg Adams, Jr. and the #16 Dean Switser, Jr. were both found illegal. Adams engine was illegal due to piston and camshaft issues, while the engine of Switser was illegal with camshaft issues. The #92 Garry Bashaw was also found illegal in post race inspection for an illegal carburetor and refusal to allow his motor to be torn down.

Adams, Switser and Bashaw have all been disqualified from Sunday’s Street Stock event. The motor infractions have resulted in a complete loss of points for the 2013 season and all three competitors found illegal have been suspended from racing at Thunder Road or any ACT-sanctioned event for the remainder of the 2013 season.

Bill Davis Pockets $3,000 in M&M Beverage Enduro

troadGreg Adams Takes Street Stock Special Win

Barre, VT – Bill Davis of Monson, MA won his second career M&M Beverage Enduro and pocketed a cool $3,000 at Barre’s Thunder Road on Sunday, August 11. Davis was the only competitor to complete all 200 laps of the thrashing and crashing event.

Don “Dipstick” Tofani led for a good portion of the race before having to pit out of the lead. He recovered to take second with 198 laps completed. Andrew Botala, Mike Cormier, and Nick Gilcris all completed 196 laps and completed the top five. Kelly Miller, Jr., Brandon Gray, Jason Gray, Dan Rae, and Beverly Menard rounded out the top ten.

Brett Wheeler Holds Off Scott for Late Model Win

troadBarre, VT – Brett Wheeler of Waterbury Center met Phil Scott’s challenge on a late race restart and sped off to victory in the Harvest Equipment Night Late Model 50-lap main event on a rare Monday night of stock car racing at Thunder Road.

Wheeler started on the pole and left everyone in the dust before a caution for Joey M Laquerre’s spin on lap 39 brought his Spherion No. 1 back to the field. Scott lined up alongside Wheeler in the Lamberton Electric/Maplewood No. 14, but wasn’t able to hang at Wheeler’s door.

Jimmy Hebert Claims Second ACT Win at Sanair

troadSt-Pie, QC – Williamstown, VT’s Jimmy Hebert claimed his second career American Canadian Tour victory of his career in the Sanair 150 at Sanair Super Speedway on Saturday, August 3. Hebert started from the pole position with a +6 qualifying effort on his way to his heat win. He faded back during the early stages of the event before working his way back to the point just before the halfway mark. He returned to the lead for good on lap 70 and built a large lead before the final rain shower of the day came and cut the race short on lap 145.

Série ACT competitor Alex Labbe and Wayne Helliwell, Jr. came from 12th and 24th respectively to complete the podium. Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. worked his way from 13th to take 4th. Eight-time ACT Champion Brian Hoar and Glen Luce battled for the lead for the majority of the first half of the event. Hoar began to fade before the lap 77 mandatory caution for fuel and tires. He then worked his way back up to finish fifth.

29th M&M Beverage Enduro Ready to Hit the Road

troadBarre, VT – Just over one week remains for competitors of the 29th Annual M&M Beverage Enduro to prepare their rides for the 200-laps of thrashing and crashing at Thunder Road in Barre, VT on Sunday, August 18. The “People’s Race”, as it has become known, gives the average fan the chance to tackle the Barre-highbanks for a shot at the $3,000 grand prize.

Long-time veteran of the M&M Beverage Enduro and the 1987 Enduro Champion Don “Dipstick” Tofani of Plainfield filed the first 2013 entry. He will wheel one of the over 100 nearly street-legal cars, which will be lined-up three-wide before taking off for the 200-laps with stops only occurring for fires and roll-overs.

Thunder Road VP Night Postponed

troadBarre, VT – Thunder Road’s VP Racing Fuels night scheduled for Thursday, August 1 has been postponed due to the forecasted series of thunderstorms in the region. The event has been rescheduled for Thursday, August 29 and will be the final point counting event for the Late Models. The event will feature the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen 100-lapper along with regular events for Late Models, Allen Lumber Street Stocks and the Rough Riders.

Thunder Road will be back in action this Sunday, August 4 with the make-up event of Harvest Equipment night. Post time is set for 6:00pm with racing action for the Late Models, Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen and Allen Lumber Street Stocks. The grandstands open at 4:30pm with admission just $10 for adults, kids (ages 6 to 12) $3, and a family ticket $20 (2 adults, 2 kids).
