Max Rowe Edges Out Mike Rowe for Oxford Championship Series Victory

A family rivalry boiled over on Saturday evening at Oxford Plains Speedway as Max Rowe engaged in a thrilling battle with his grandfather, Mike Rowe, for the Mid-Coast Excavation Super Late Model championship.

The two drivers battled side-by-side throughout the 50-lap feature. Max Rowe ultimately secured the victory, achieving his second career Oxford Championship Series Super Late Model win by holding off his relative in the closing laps of the race.

Despite the intense late-race competition, Mike Rowe fought hard, managing to finish in second place. While Max Rowe led the entire event, Mike Rowe battled closely with his grandson, demonstrating strong driving skill throughout the contest.

The excitement extended beyond the main battle; Tom Abele, Jr., who had previously finished fifth in Oxford Championship Series points one season prior, also contended for a spot on the leaderboard, finishing third in Saturday’s event.

This event promises to be a major celebration for fans, offering over 6,000 free general admission tickets distributed by more than 40 local sponsors.

The main attraction of the night will be a high-stakes competition: a 125-lap points-paying event for the Mid-Coast Excavation Super Late Models. The winner will take home $3,000, with $550 offered as a starting purse. This special race serves as an exciting qualifier for drivers aiming for a spot in the August 30 Oxford 250.

Derek Griffith Returns to Thunder Road Victory Lane in Lid-Lifter PASS 150

Barre, VT — As part of a reimagined opening weekend for the 64th season of stock car racing at Thunder Road International Speedbowl, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) invaded the State of Vermont on Saturday. The PASS Super Late Models once again stirred the bowl at Thunder Road along with the PASS Modifieds and R&R Race Parts Open Street Stock Series to kick-off the 2023 racing season with plenty of octane and horsepower to fuel the thrills and spills of the tripleheader event.

The PASS Modifieds brought Thunder Road to life in more ways than one. Young Evan Roy became the first victim of the Widowmaker frontstretch wall in his heat race, meeting Thunder Road for the first time behind a tow truck. Come feature time Brandon Varney showcased himself as class of the field leading his fellow Modifieds the whole way through. Not a run-away by any means, with Spencer Morse and Spencer Vaughn all over his rear bumper from green to checkers. Varney took down his first Thunder Road win in a very excited Victory Lane followed by former Thunder Road winner Spencer Morse and Vaughn rounding out the podium.

A lot happened this year to be thankful for, but me, my family, and my team are extremely excited to be back in our family own 47 car, they number it all started with. I can’t thank the Dale drew racing family enough for everything they did this year and can only wish them luck in the feature. Looking forward to chasing the 2023 PASS, and ACT championship along with a few open mod races in the weir motorsports 66. We had a good 2022, but are searching for a better 2023.
