Frank Moulton wins fourth straight Late Model feature race at Unity Raceway

Unity, ME — Frank Moulton of Burnham is hot in the stretch drive as he seeks his third consecutive Late Model track championship at Unity Raceway. The Burnham driver claimed his fourth consecutive checkered flag in the top class at Maine’s Toughest Racing Oval, extending his point lead in the process.
Vassalboro’s Ed ‘Fubby’ Drake claimed runner-up honors, while Freedom teenager Dylan Turner picked up third-place hardware. Seth Raven of Waldo and Jeff Burgess of Fairfield rounded out the top five.

Super Street point leader Nate Weston of Madison returned to victory lane in the top support class at the third-mile oval. Weston’s closest challenger under the checkered flag was Waterville’s Ricky Burgess, with ‘Cowboy’ Dan Trask racing to the final podium finishing position. Steve Rackliff of Starks and Oakland’s Skip Conner completed the top five rundown.

Moulton on a roll: Third straight win stretches point lead for 20-year-old racer seeking third straight Unity Raceway Late Model track title

 

Unity, Maine – 20-year-old stock car driver Frank Moulton is getting hot. Moulton, of Burnham, won his third straight Late Model feature race Saturday night at Unity Raceway, extending his lead atop the point standings in the premiere class at the historic Waldo County oval track.

Defending champion Moulton wins second straight Late Model main event at Unity Raceway

Unity, Maine – In a wild 35-lap feature race for the headlining Unity Raceway Late Model division, Burnham’s Frank Moulton survived to post his second straight win Saturday night.

 

Other main event victors were Corey Walker (Augusta), Ricky Burgess, Jr. (Waterville), Chris King (Burnham), Mike Wilson (Chelsea), Justin Moore (Madison), Chelsea Young (Winterport), Cole Robinson (Clinton) and Zach Gagnon (Clinton).

 

After a rough start in the Late Model race both Frank Moulton and veteran Jeff Burgess of Fairfield made there way to the front of the field, swapping the race lead through the later stages of the race before Moulton built a slight advantage in the closing laps. Ricky Morse of St. Albans avoided major trouble despite a few close calls and claimed the third-place trophy. Palmyra’s Ajay Picard finished in fourth position. Rookie Late Model competitor Markus Lowe of Jackson led a good chunk of the race before eventually crossing the line in fifth position. Late Model heat races were won by Dylan Turner (freedom), Seth Raven (Waldo) and Burgess.

Moulton, Austin triumphant at Unity Raceway

Unity, Maine – Reigning track champion and current Late Model point leader Frank Moulton of Burnham drove to victory in the 35-lap main event at Unity Raceway last Saturday night. RJ Austin of Smithfield prevailed in a special 50-lapper for the Super Street class, and other feature wins were posted by Andy Turbovsky (Winslow), Steve Rackliff (Starks), Mike Wilson (Chelsea), Zach Audet (New Sharon), Chelsea Young (Winterport) Wes Turner (Montville), Donny Silva (Hudson) and Ben Nile (Anson).

 

Moulton’s Late Model victory saw the young champion chased to the checkered flag by veteran Jeff Burgess of Fairfield, who saw a two-race winning streak halted. Seth Raven of Walso claimed the third-place trophy. Mike Hodgkins and Ajay Picard rounded out the top five. Will Collins of Appleton and Moulton won the heat races.

Burgess, Bellows make it two straight wins at Unity Raceway

Unity, ME – Jeff Burgess of Fairfield won his second straight Late Model feature race Friday night, topping the card at Unity Raceway. Other feature winners on the program included Brad Bellows of China, Andy Turbovsky of Winslow, Cary Davis of Solon, Gregg Cummings of Augusta, Justin Moore of Madison, Mika Wilson of Chelsea, Jayson Bosworth of Cornville and Alex Fernald of Benton.

Burgess had turned around a dismal season the previous week with a triumphant run in his Late Model, and Friday night the veteran car builder made it back-to-back feature victories in the top class at Unity Raceway.
