American Canadian Tour Season Opener at Lee USA Speedway

leeThe Lee USA Speedway is honored to announce that Governor Maggie Hassan will be the Grand Marshall for the Annual Governor’s Cup 150 on April 14th. In January, Mrs. Hassan became only the second woman ever to be sworn in as New Hampshire’s governor. Prior to becoming governor, she served in the NH Senate for five years representing the 23rd district which includes Exeter and Kingston and was the Majority Leader. Her husband Thomas is principal of Phillips Exeter Academy.

Governor Hassan will welcome the thousands of racing fans flocking to the Lee USA Speedway from all over the northeast and Canada for the very first auto racing event of the 2013 season in the Granite State . She will personally greet the drivers before the race, drop the green flag on the main event, and award the prestigious Governor’s Cup Trophy to the winner.

Lee USA Speedway Opens 28th ACT Season

leeWaterbury, VT – As the American Canadian Tour’s 28th season shifts into full gear, teams prepare for the opening race on April 13/14 at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH. After one of the closest point battles in ACT history in 2012, eventual Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr. edged out 8-time ACT Champion Brian Hoar with a victory in the season finale, and will look to continue his momentum at the Lee opener in 2013.

Helliwell will be challenged by ACT star Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., who got his start in full-bodied stock cars at Lee USA Speedway. While Helliwell has amassed 8 track championships at Lee USA, he remains in search of his first ACT victory at his home track. Polewarczyk won the opener at Lee in 2008.

Lee USA Gearing Up for 2013

leeThe Lee USA Speedway will be presenting its Annual Car Show in the Lilac Mall in Rochester, NH. The show will run from Friday, March 15th through Sunday, March 17th and will feature cars from all four of the NASCAR Whelen All American Series divisions competing at Lee USA Speedway on a weekly basis as well as many of the touring series that will visit the speedway over the course of the season. Lee USA’s small block supermodifieds, late model sportsman, hobby stocks, and iron man will be on display as well as representatives of the Valenti Modified Series, the Northeast Mini Stock Tour, the Northeast Midget Association(NEMA), ACT Tour and the Classic Lites.

LEE USA SPEEDWAY RESULTS FROM FRIDAY, AUGUST 24, 2012

Lee, NH – The chase for the 2012 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track championship at Lee USA Speedway continued Friday night, with double features making it an even more challenging for the Benson Lumber and Hardware Small Block Supermodified competitors.

Twin 25-lap feature events were on tap for the open-wheelers, and when the checkers waved, we had not one, but two first-time winners rolling into victory lane. Second-year competitor Leslie Keyser collected his first career win in the opener, and veteran Moe Lattime got his first Small Block Super checkered the nightcap.

HELLIWELL GRABS “MONEYBAGS 100” CHAMPIONSHIP AT LEE

LEE, NH – Defending NASCAR New England Champ Wayne Helliwell Jr. won Friday night’s “Moneybags 100” overall point championship here at Lee USA Speedway.

Driving the Witkum No. 21 winged supermodified, Helliwell combined a win with a pair of second place finishes to take the overall title. He won $5,000 paid to him from moneybags full of cash in Victory Lane plus a Championship Trophy from race sponsor Benson Lumber and Hardware.

Helliwell of Pelham, NH, started his night off well by setting a new track record in time trials, earning the pole position in the opening 35-Lap Segment of the main event. Turning the three-eights mile oval in 13.796 seconds, he narrowly edged P. J. Stergios by .34 of a second.
