Back To Where It All Started For The NEMST

NEMST1Nine years ago was the first mini stock race at Beech Ridge. The ‘4-Cylinder Nationals’ as it was called by Gary Sagar was an open comp mini stock event that attracted over 30 cars fighting for $1000 to win in the 50 lap event. Now NEMST Promoter Bob Guptill started deep in the field in that first event that showcased the best from all over the region and drove to a top 10 finish. Fast forward to the present with the popular NEMST and its 10 race schedule for the 2015 season.

Twenty-six touring minis entered the pit area Saturday morning to fight for the first Beech Ridge trophy since the 2011 season. From brand new cars to aged veterans the competition was high. This was truly the best of the very best, champions from nearly every track in New England battling against one another. Practices went well with a large group of drivers running nearly identical lap times. NEMST Officials were sure the feature would be an action packed show.

In morning practice it was evident that there were numerous cars running in some very tight brackets and would make an excellent race.

Just after 1:00 P.M. the first of two Environmental Engines heat races rolled out with Toby Wells taking control in heat 1 and Joe Baxter surviving a late race battle with Nick Anderson to secure their first wins of the season.
