Driver of the #34 Christian Hanscom of Benton, ME., is gearing up for the 2016 race season in the Senior Sportsman Class at Richmond Karting Speedway. “My body is out getting lettered as we speak, just a couple of finishing touches and I will be ready to go. 2016 I will be racing in Richmond I am not sure if we will race every race but we may try dirt track and a couple of out –of-state tracks. My hope is to get a teen car to race in Bangor or maybe Unity (if they open)at the end of the season. My parents say I need to keep my grades up.”
Last season Christian raced the #34 and won with his broken arm in a cast. “Oh ya I remember that day, I had just got the cast on the day before and unsure how I would feel. My dad made the steering wheel wider in one spot so I didn’t have to grip it so hard and it worked out great. My mom said I should race like that more often, kidding of course.”
A close point’s battle last season on the Sportsman Series, Christian finished in second by just 1 point. “Yes last season was a close one and I am reminded of that last race where I gave the win to Conner. I never run the Chicken line but I tried and when I did went in to fast and pushed up the track which allowed my competitor to get by. I had it won but messed up. I have learned and will not do it again unless I am coming out of the final turn. For the most part we had a lot of fun last year and I won 6 or 7 races but we learned a lot set-up wise.”
Dylan Henry #05 – I am looking forward to getting back on the track.

Dylan Henry of New Gloucester, ME., is all ready for the 2016 race season at Richmond Karting Speedway. “It looks like a good balance that will allow me to run at Oxford too.”
There are both day and night races at Richmond, most drivers like racing at night under the lights and, Dylan is one of them. “Night! It’s fun.”
The legends cars race the road course at NHMS and Thompson Speedway and Indy car is racing on the streets of Boston this summer. So what if RKS had a road course race on the streets of downtown Richmond? “Sign me up! I think it would be exciting.”

Driver of the #44, Spencer Barth from Buxton Maine, has kept busy during the winter months but is ready to go racing. “I have been doing some ice fishing with my dad and brother Nate. I have also done some snowmobiling. I raced most the winter with my brother and friends at Maine Indoor Karting. With the lack of snow we were able to get the karts done early.”
Spencer will have another busy race season racing at 2 different track and in 3 series. “I will be racing full time at Richmond in the SR Sportsman and Animal Unrestricted class. I will also being running a full season at Bartlett Bridge in my Sr. Cage dirt kart. I finished first in the animal class and second in the Sr. sportsman class my first year at Richmond. I’ve won the Sr. Cage class at Bartlett Bridge the last two years in a row.
Racing at RKS with is a fast asphalt track and Bartlett Bridge is an aggressive dirt track. “Richmond is all about momentum and not having to lift off the gas where Bartlett is more door to door action usually more contact trying to stay in the bottom groove.”
