Waterbury, VT – Dover, NH’s Wayne Helliwell, Jr. earned his 4th consecutive Ford Blue Oval Cup title after finishing 5th in the Fall Brawl at Riverside Speedway (Groveton, NH). Helliwell has now won the Ford title in each of its four seasons to date.
The 2013 Ford Championship saw the closest battle ever heading into the final eligible race. Helliwell lead by just one point over Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. Polewarczyk was involved in an accident in the second half of the 200 lap event, which effectively ended his title hopes. Helliwell was leading late until fading back to 5th following the final caution flag on lap 196.

West Haven, VT – Wayne Helliwell, Jr. of Dover, NH completed his sweep of the American Canadian Tour events at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, July 28. Helliwell backed up his Spring Green win in May with a win in the St. Jude Children’s Hospital 150.
Helliwell had to battle both Tiverton, Rhode Island’s Ray Parent and weather on his way to the win. The Helliwell/Parent duo swapped the lead a total of six times over the first 93 laps. The outside lane seemed like the lane of choice as the second place driver got the advantage on the majority of the restarts.
The event was red flagged with 93 laps complete due to rain. After an over 20 minute rain delay the racing resumed with Parent at the point. Following another caution with 104 laps completed, Helliwell took over the lead for good. Parent settled in to second until he abruptly slowed up on lap 146. He had to pit to fill up with gas and returned for the restart and remained on the lead lap.

Helliwell Nips Hoar in Spring Green Thriller at Devil’s Bowl Speedway
WEST HAVEN, VT – American-Canadian Tour stock car drivers Wayne Helliwell, Jr. and Brian Hoar brought a full house to its feet for a photo finish in 101.5 “The Fox” Spring Green 113 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday afternoon. Helliwell headlined a list of race winners to open the 2013 season at the West Haven, VT track that also included Todd Stone, Richie Turner, and Chris LaVair.

Helliwell Flies High, Claims Victory in Sanair 100
Saint-Pie, QC – American Canadian Tour point-leader Wayne Helliwell, Jr. of Dover, NH beat the rain and nearly 40 other competitors to claim the victory at Sanair Super Speedway in St-Pie, QC on Sunday, August, 12. Helliwell was hunted by eight-time Champion Brian Hoar who finished on his tail in second, and young sensation Austin Theriault to complete the podium. Rowley, MA’s Eddie Macdonald took fourth, and former Serie ACT Castrol Champion Karl Allard rounded out the top five.
After completing seven laps before getting rained out the previous night, Patrick Laperle re-assumed the lead in the early laps stretching out over fellow ACT Castrol Champion Karl Allard, and Helliwell. The race was slowed by just one yellow, when the car of rookie Etienne Cliche spun on lap 35. With the field back together, Helliwell mounted his attack, passing Allard for second and finally diving hard underneath Laperle for the lead on lap 55. From there, Helliwell sliced through lap traffic, leaving only 16 cars of the 39 car starting field on the lead lap.

Wayne Helliwell Jr. and the Bruce Bernhardt owned Ekeys-4-Cars, Unique Ford team headed to White Mountain Motorsports park Saturday night after more than a month off from the traveling American Canadian Tour series. The last event at Oxford Plains Speedway saw Helliwell’s only finish outside the top 10 in 18 races in the 2012 season. A faulty radiator cap caused an engine failure and relegated the team to a 30th place finish.
Carrying the momentum from Canaan Fair Speedway were they have reeled off 9 consecutive wins; Helliwell rolled from the 3rd position in heat #3. Wasting no time he would take the lead from Ben Ashline in less than a half a lap and go on to take the win with a +2 to his credit. That half a lap would be the only time Helliwell would not be out front for the remainder of the night.
