WISCASSET – It’s a fact: the best things come in pairs. It explains why Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Buy One, Get One sales are so popular: two instead of one is downright patriotic. Last weekend, Steve Perry at Mainely Motorsports partnered with Wiscasset Speedway and amazing business sponsors to bring not one, but two days of action-packed events to Maine’s fastest race track. Because if there are two things that Perry knows, it’s race cars and ‘Merica. Or as reigning Strictly Streets Champion, Kyle Hewins, said on Sunday from victory lane, “Steve, if it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t have anything to listen to or talk about!”
Victory was the name of the game with champions making checkered laps throughout the day to the delight of their fans, screaming from packed grand stands on all sides. Ultimately taking home first place in the Wiscasset 100 was DJ Shaw of the #60. This young New Hampshire driver is not only running second in the points with the Granite State Prostock Series (GSPSS) but also demonstrated the sportsmanship of a champion during both the heat race and main event.

Wiscasset, ME – It had been a few years since DJ Shaw and the Precision JLM Racing team had ran at Wiscasset Speedway, but they made their mark this past weekend as they captured the checkered flag in the inaugural “Mainely Motorsports 100” Granite State Pro Stocks Series event. Shaw dominated in his victory, taking the lead just 17 laps into the race and held off the challenges from Derek Griffith and Tracy Gordon in the race’s final laps.
“It was a great race for us, we had a fantastic car and I’m glad we could get a win again here, Shaw, a former Coastal 200 winner at Wiscasset said in Victory Lane, “I can’t thank the Jordan family, Steve Perry and the Mainely Motorsports team and the entire staff here for putting on a great show, our entire team is impressed with what they’ve done here.”
The win didn’t come easily for Shaw however, as he started the third heat race in the sixth spot. After a hard wreck behind him bringing out a red flag, Shaw was sitting in the third sport. At the finish, Shaw made a hard charge at Jeremy Davis, as Shaw got into him on the final lap, but backed off to allow Davis to catch his car as Shaw settled for a second place finish in the heat race.

WALPOLE, N.H. – An inaugural trip to the 3/8 mile Wiscasset Speedway in Wiscasset, Maine is up next for the Granite State Pro Stock Series, this Saturday Sept. 3 and Sunday Sept. 4.
The 100 lap, $2,000 to win feature event will headline the Labor Day weekend celebration as Wiscasset starts a three races in three weeks stretch for the GSPSS. Following Wiscasset, the series will make a stop at Star Speedway for the Star Classic on Sept. 10, then visit Monadnock Speedway for the rescheduled JBH 100 on Sept. 17.
“I’m excited, we usually do really well at tracks we haven’t been to before,” reigning series champion Derek Griffith said.

WISCASSET – Wiscasset Speedway features the fastest cars in Maine. Sure, they have a popular Kids Club, keeping even the youngest members of a family entertained on race day. And of course, track owners, Richard and Vanessa Jordan, schedule countless celebrations throughout the season. But leaving all of that aside, the track has a reputation for sponsoring events that keep motorheads coming back year after year to the state’s fastest track. Formidable competitors known throughout New England battle for the track championships. With that said, last Saturday night’s regular division races were delayed briefly for a lively, albeit competitive 20-lap Go-Kart race. Think it was simply a feel-good, fluff piece to keep crowds entertained? Think again! At Wiscasset Speedway, even a Go-Kart race becomes Daytona 500, with fans not only filling the grandstands but crews surfacing from prepping cars in the pits to watch these mini speed demons. Winning first was Spencer Wenners in the #53x, with Wyatt Oakes of the #11 in second and Deliah Lamarre of the #13 in third.

Kurt Hewins of the 55H from Leeds continued his winning streak and solid sportsmanship last Saturday night for Fan Appreciation Night, presented by IGA Food Stores supporting the Dream Ride for Special Olympics. Traveling from cities all over the state, dedicated fans, packing grand stands each week, are the secret ingredient that makes Wiscasset Speedway Maine’s biggest, fastest track year after year.
Starting 3-wide, the Strictly Streets 35-lap spotlight kicked off strong with Kenny Harrison of the #84, who had no trouble taking and holding the lead. Behind Harrison, heavy hitters refused to back down and the competition remained fierce, even after Kimberly Knight in the #00 pulled ahead in lap nine, closely followed by Kurt Hewins in the #55H.
