BARRE, VT – Actor, musician, and new author Rusty DeWees of Elmore will hold a book signing at Barre’s Thunder Road as part of the Fisher\/Federated Auto Parts stock car racing program on Tuesday, August 28. No stranger to Thunder Road, DeWees – perhaps more commonly known by his stage name “The Logger” – will autograph copies of his soon-to-be-released book, Scrawlins. During the early years of his wildly popular one-man show named after his character, DeWees was a weekly competitor in Thunder Road’s Allen Lumber Street Stock division.<\/p>\n

“You better get it, you might be in it, or at least know someone in it,” said DeWees of Scrawlins. “I
figured Thunder Road might be a good place to unveil the new book because there’s lots of people there that at least know someone in it.”

Scrawlins is a collection of 94 short stories written by DeWees about topics like why there’s an “i”
in “iPod,” Vermonters and their thoughts on global warming, and the time DeWees was surprised to find a snake hampering his weed-whacking duties around the house.<\/p>\n
“The book isn’t necessarily written from the point of view of my character, ‘The Logger,’” DeWees
says, “but it’s got a bunch of Loggery-type stories. Some are true, some aren’t. Some are funny, and some are a little sad. It’s just a myriad of things that I wanted to write down.”<\/p>\n
Scrawlins will be available in stores in mid-September.
