BARRE, VT – The best short track Late Model stock car drivers from the United States and Canada are preparing to do battle for the country’s greatest short track racing prize – victory in the 44th Annual Chittenden Milk Bowl at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT on Sat.\/Sun., September 29\/30. The Milk Bowl, with its unique three-segment, cumulatively scored format, was voted by American race promoters and National Speed Sport News as the “Outstanding Annual Short Track Event” last year. “The highest praise any race track can receive is to be recognized by Chris Ecomomaki’s National Speed Sport News, and the Chittenden Milk Bowl winning the Outstanding Annual Short Track Event award ranks very high on the list of Thunder Road’s achievements,” said Thunder Road President Tom Curley.<\/p>\n

American-Canadian Tour (ACT) drivers will converge on the high-banked ¼-mile oval at Thunder Road to attempt qualifying through Booth Bros.\/H.P. Hood Time Trials and “Triple 50” heat races on Sat., Sept. 29, and the last-chance “B” Feature on Sun., Sept. 30. Qualified drivers will race the first of three 50-lap segments in the Chittenden Milk Bowl, with each driver earning one point to finish first, two points for second, etc.

The Segment I finish is inverted for the start of Segment II, with the winner starting last for the second round. The same format is used for Segment III. The driver with the lowest point total after three segments is declared the Chittenden Milk Bowl Champion, and earns a whopping $10,000 ACTion Super Series check and the right to plant a kiss on the Milk Bowl beauty queen – a genuine Vermont dairy cow!<\/p>\n
Four-time winner Robbie Crouch of Tampa, FL heads a distinguished list of past champions, including Virginia’s Bill Dennis, South Carolina’s Butch Lindley, Canadian greats Dave Whitlock of Ontario and Patrick Laperle of Montreal, and defending champion Brent Dragon of Milton, VT. Crouch, Laperle, and Dragon are expected to attempt qualifying for the 2007 Chittenden Milk Bowl, along with multi-time champion Vermonters Jean-Paul Cyr, Brian Hoar, and Phil Scott, Quebec champions Donald Theetge and Claude Leclerc, New Hampshire stars Randy Potter, “Rocket” Roger Brown, and Joey “Pole” Polewarczyk, Jr., and many more.<\/p>\n
Booth Bros.\/H.P. Hood Qualifying Day begins at 1:30pm on Saturday, Sept. 29. Preliminary events for Thunder Road’s weekly NAPA Tiger Sportsman and Allen Lumber Street Stock divisions, as well as the season finale for the Power Shift Online Warriors, will also be held on Saturday. The last-chance “B” Feature qualifier for ACT Late Models kicks off the action on Sunday at 1:00pm. One-day general admission for Saturday only is $10 for adults with children 12 and under free. Two-day tickets are $25 for adults and just $5 for children. <\/p>\n
