       BARRE, VT – Stock car driver Mike Ziter of Williamstown has been disqualified from his apparent second-place finish in Sunday’s 30-lap Allen Lumber Street Stock feature at Barre’s Thunder Road.  The event was run in conjunction with the 44th Annual Chittenden Milk Bowl for the American-Canadian Tour.<\/p>\n

      Ziter was found to have illegal pistons in the engine of his Ford Mustang in post-race inspection.  He has been stripped of all points and purse money earned in Sunday’s race.  The disqualification moves Mike Martin of Craftsbury Common into the runner-up position behind winner Bobby Therrien of Hinesburg, with Hardwick’s Greg Adams, Jr. inheriting the third place finish.  Rookie Vern Woodard of Burlington and Tommy Smith of Williamstown now complete the top five finishers.<\/p>\n

       Twenty year-old rookie Therrien clinched the Allen Lumber Street Stock Championship with the feature win. He becomes the first freshman driver in Thunder Road’s “modern era” (since 1982) to win a division championship. The Chittenden victory was his sixth win of the season, also a new record.<\/p>\n
