The Rough Riders, are a division of 6-cylinder cars, ten years old or older, designed to introduce competitors to racing in a way that is cheap, simple, and most of all, fun. The cars will be painted with family friendly themes, and will have their first event of 2013 on the high banks this Thursday, June 20.

Part of the fun will be some good old-fashioned father-son competition from the most recent pair of entries sent in by Justin and Randy Johnson. Justin, who is just 18 years of age, will be racing with his father Randy for the first time.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been going to Thunder Road my entire life. I\u2019ve done two Enduros there and when I saw the rules package for the Rough Riders, my Dad and I took one look at it and thought we had to give it a try. I think this is going to be great,\u201d said Justin. \u201cI can\u2019t wait to start racing more, and I\u2019m really excited to be racing with my Dad,\u201d he finished.<\/p>\n
Driver\u2019s Ed instructor Paul Dudley is also preparing a ride for the new division.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been coming to Thunder Road since I was a kid in the 80\u2019s. Like everyone else in the stands I always wanted to be part of a real class, but I could never afford it until now,\u201d said Dudley. \u201cI love the idea of making the car into a character, too. The fans will love it, especially the kids!\u201d<\/p>\n
