WATERBURY, VT &ndash; The American-Canadian Tour stock car racing organization has announced the hiring of six new officials to help oversee operations with the ACT Late Model Tour, the S&eacute;rie ACT Castrol, and Thunder Road Int&rsquo;l Speedbowl in Barre, VT.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Kevin Farrar of Lewiston, ME, and his wife, Eve Worcester, will take on important roles in the 2008 racing season.&nbsp; Farrar will handle handicapping duties for the ACT Late Model Tour, including race-day registration and event lineups.&nbsp; Farrar served as handicapper for Oxford Plains Speedway in his native Maine from 1994-2005, and worked with ACT last fall.&nbsp; Worcester will be part of the scoring staff.<br \/>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &ldquo;I took two seasons off, but I was asked to work at Thunder Road&rsquo;s Chittenden Milk Bowl last year,&rdquo; said Farrar.&nbsp; &ldquo;One call from (ACT President) Tom Curley is all it took to get me hooked again!&nbsp; Eve and I are excited about joining the ACT staff, and are looking forward to the experience.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Jessie Blake of Barre, VT will handle handicapping duties at Thunder Road.&nbsp; Blake is the daughter of former &ldquo;King of the Road&rdquo; Track Champion Greg &ldquo;Burger&rdquo; Blake, and the sister of NAPA Tiger Sportsman rookie Cody Blake.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Lynn Nielsen of Williamstown, VT will serve as Chief Scorer at Thunder Road.&nbsp; Nielsen is considered to be one of the leading scorers in northeastern short track racing, and rejoins the ACT staff after several seasons off.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Long-time race official Marvin Galarneau of Barre, VT and Julie Roberts of Mooers Forks, NY will also<br \/>assist in scoring Thunder Road and ACT events.&nbsp; Galarneau is a veteran of 40 years in the industry, and has held similar roles at Oxford Plains Speedway, New Hampshire&rsquo;s Riverside Speedway, and the Vermont-based Northeastern Kart Club.&nbsp; Roberts is the wife of multi-time ACT Late Model Tour race winner Mark Lamberton, and brings a wealth of knowledge of the sport.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; ACT President Curley said that due to an odd off-season, the need for increased staffing became quickly apparent.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &ldquo;I can&rsquo;t recall an off-season as quirky as the one we&rsquo;ve just been through, in terms of the staffing at ACT and Thunder Road,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp; &ldquo;Two of our veteran scorers retired from the sport, and our other two are expecting the births of their first children during the busiest time of our race year.&nbsp; I am very confident that Lynn, Marvin, Eve, and Julie will pick up right where we left off, and Kevin Farrar and Jessie Blake will be great additions as well.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The ACT Late Model Tour season kicks off with the New Hampshire Governor&rsquo;s Cup at Lee USA Speedway on Sun., April 20 and the New England Dodge Dealers 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway on Sat., April 26.&nbsp; Thunder Road&rsquo;s 49th season opens with the 10th Annual Merchants Bank 150 on Sat.\/Sun., May 3\/4.&nbsp; The S&eacute;rie ACT Castrol opens on Sun., May 18 at Autodrome St-Eustache near Montr&eacute;al.&nbsp;
