McKeage started sixth in the caution-free season finale for the series, but he found it difficult to gain track position as the field stretched out over the second half of the event. The Naughty 40 Racing No. 40 Top Gun Construction/JP & Family Roofing Chevrolet finished the season fourth in the overall PASS Sportsman standings. McKeage has never finished outside the Top-5 in the series when competing in all of the races on the schedule.

WHO: Dan McKeage, Gorham, Maine
TEAM: Naughty 40 Racing No. 40 Top Gun Construction/J.P. & Family Roofing Chevrolet
WHAT: PASS Sportsman Series 50
WHERE: Oxford Plains Speedway, Oxford, Maine (.375-mile oval)
STARTED: 6th
FINISHED: 7th
FINAL POINTS POSITION: 4th
********
DAN, HOW WAS YOUR CAR?
We weren’t that good. And with 50 laps green-flag, I was hoping to make an adjustment. But we had so many decent cars, there really wasn’t time to make one. We worked for a couple of days, and it seemed like it drove the same as it did when we showed up. It could have been worse, not that we’re happy with where we finished – it wasn’t on the podium.

We had some pretty good help, and we tried a bunch of things all weekend long. We didn’t just come out to ride around. We really worked on it.
DO YOU FEEL ANY BETTER ABOUT THE FACT THE CAR WAS BETTER THAN IT WAS WHEN YOU WERE LAST HERE IN JULY?
Yeah. The last race here, we were lucky it got rain-shortened because we would have gone five or six laps down as bad as we were going. The car drove better (Saturday), but we had a lot better competition this time. There were a lot of good guys who showed up, and a bunch of guys that finished in front of us who had good cars all weekend.

We just couldn’t make our car any better.
HOW MUCH FUN DO YOU HAVE WITH THE SPORTSMAN CAR?
We have a lot of fun doing it, but it’s obviously better when you can finish up front. I think we ended up fourth for the year, which is the first time we finished out of the Top-3. But we had a good time, we had a good car, and we didn’t stave the thing up every week so we could come out on Sunday every couple of weeks and turn laps.

It’s a lot of fun coming to the track – it’s better than sitting on the couch every week watching NASCAR or something foolish like that.

PASS Sportsman Series: Dan McKeage Oxford Plains Speedway Race Report OXFORD, Maine – Dan McKeage of Gorham, Maine, finished seventh in PASS Sportsman 50 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, on Saturday, September 28.
