Travis Poulliot of Madison, ME will be racing full time this season in the Thunder 4 Series at Wiscasset Speedway. Like most drivers the off season gives Travis time to work on the race car. \u201cIn the off season – working on the race car, making me more comfortable and safer, gaining advertising partners\u201d<\/p>\n
Wiscasset Speedway throws the green flag on April 19th<\/sup> for the first race of the season, though with all the different divisions, they are divided and race every other weekend. \u201cMy class doesn’t run till the 26th of April, hoping to be race ready by then still have something\u2019s to do, too get the car ready.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Last season Travis raced at Unity Raceway, in the Flying Fours Class, and made a trip to the podium during the Long John Weekend. Though he did make the trip south to Wiscasset Speedway to race in the Fall Fury. \u201cI enjoy racing at Wiscasset, better then Unity, although my heart is at Unity with my personal history with the track and family history with my uncle Steve Nelson, and my grandfather working with Stan Meserve way back in the day, Wiscasset is faster bigger smoother higher banked, just a more enjoyable track to be at.\u201d<\/p>\n As of now Unity Raceway is closed for the 2014 season, \u201cUnity being closed this season does bother me a bit, but yet again big changes have to happen there for it to come back and compete with its surrounding tracks.\u201d<\/p>\n One good thing about racing every other weekend at Wiscasset Speedway it gives the drivers and teams time to work on the cars, as well as saving the drivers money. \u201cI like what I see for a schedule for the \u201814 season, going to be interesting for me though since I spot for the #28 late model of Steve Minott, so that’ll be a challenge, for me but I’m up for it, I\u2019m hoping to run the full schedule finances permitting.\u201d<\/p>\n The sport of racing is always evolving as driver give their ideas to improve the racing and make it more competitive at Wiscasset Speedway. \u201cOne huge thing I can recommend to Wiscasset Speedway is a tire rule for my class, one make and model tire THAT WAY we are all on the same tire and will be more competitive.\u201d<\/p>\n Racing can be expensive and sponsors play a key role in the sport, \u201cI don’t like to call them “sponsors”, to me they are advertising partners, we agree to money deals or product deals, they are doing that so we can promote their companies, me and my team have worked fairly hard and have acquired a few advertisers, Lockharts Lawncare and Critter Removal out of Vassalboro, and Freddys Towing out of Vassalboro, it would have been much harder to prepare for the 2014 race season, without them.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Story by Chris Roy Travis Poulliot of Madison, ME will be racing full time this season in the Thunder 4 Series at Wiscasset Speedway.
