\"Speedway<\/a>Bradley\u2019s Dean Smart started the 40 lap Dysart\u2019s Late Model feature at Speedway 95 in fifth place on Saturday night and hung around the top five as John Curtis Jr. of Hermon, John Kalel II of Orrington and Ryan Deane of Winterport took turns trying to unseat leader Wayne Parritt of Steuben. In the reshuffle through three late race cautions, Smart moved through the field, using both the inside and outside grooves to position his car for the final assault. On a lap 33 restart, Smart lined up beside Parritt and battled him side by side for the final 7 laps. The pair exchanged the lead twice until the final lap when Smart crossed the finish line with the front bumper of his car mere inches ahead of Parritt. Parritt finished second after leading for 35 of the races 40 laps, with Ryan Deane a close third. Fourth went to Hermon\u2019s John Curtis Jr., who lost an early race side by side battle with Parritt for the lead, and last week\u2019s winner, Kalel II, finished in fifth. Parritt and Corinna\u2019s Paul White were the heat race winners.

Garett Hayman of Milford won a hard fought battle for the Coca- Cola Sport-Four feature win as he led the event from the green to the checkers with Cornville\u2019s Brad Bosworth on his bumper or by his side for all 25 laps of the race. With Jayson Bosworth of Cornville and Zach Audet of Skowhegan quickly moving up through the field, it soon became a four car race, with 12 year old pole sitter Dylan Street of Old Town falling to fifth as the more experienced drivers moved by. With the race\u2019s only caution coming on lap 2, Hayman was able to keep the trio of challengers behind him at bay and post his first win of the season. Brad Bosworth finished second with his brother Jayson Bosworth finishing third. Last week\u2019s winner Zach Audet finished fourth with Dylan Street finishing fifth in the 17 car field. Hayman and Audet each won one of the division\u2019s qualifiers.<\/p>\n

The Pepsi Beverage Company 35 lap series event for the Keystone Automotive Strictly Streets started off as a barn burner, with the lead changing three times on the first lap with Jordan Pearson of Glenburn leading the field as they crossed the scoring stripe for the first time. Pearson held the lead until lap 5 when the caution flew for a solo spin by Corinth\u2019s Richard Jackson. On the ensuing restart, Harrington\u2019s Alex Berry took the lead from Pearson and stayed there until the checkers fell 30 laps later. It wasn\u2019t an easy win for him, though, as Pearson continued to challenge him for the top spot through two more restarts, but was unable to unseat Berry from the lead. Frankfort\u2019s Bob Seger Jr. kept Pearson busy behind the leader as those two fought a race long battle for second and third, with Pearson finishing in the second spot when the checkers fell. Seger Jr. finished third with Corinth\u2019s Jim Bragdon in fourth. Fifth spot went to last year\u2019s division champion Shelby Kimball, who is limiting her racing activity this year to only the series races. Seger Jr. won the division\u2019s heat race.<\/p>\n

The inaugural race of the newly formed Outlaw Super Series of Maine was a little disappointing, as only 8 cars showed up for the event, and several of those were Speedway 95 Sportsman regulars. Kris Matchett of Skowhegan , a Speedway 95 regular, took the win after leading the entire 50 lap distance despite a race long challenge from Outlaw series driver Doug Sinclair of Hermon. Sinclair finished second despite a late race surge to challenge Matchett for the win. Although Sinclair jumped ahead of Matchett on each of event\u2019s three restarts, it was Matchett crossing the scoring line first every lap. Outlaw driver Kris Huff of Orrington closed in on Sinclair at times during the event, but was unable to take the second spot from him and finished in third. Fourth place at the finish went to Speedway 95 regular D.C. Alexander of Glenburn, with Outlaw driver Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs finishing fifth. Matchett won the race\u2019s only qualifier.<\/p>\n

The NELCAR Legends series made it\u2019s first of three appearances scheduled for the season at Speedway 95, and two time series champion Matt Bourgoine of Newport came away with an easy win over the 12 car field. Alan Smith of Lincoln finished second to Bourgoine, with Topsham\u2019s Bob Weymouth getting by Windham\u2019s Matt Grant on a late race restart to finish third. Grant finished fourth with Ellsworth\u2019s Wyatt Alexander posting a fifth place finish. Matt Chagnot of Derry N.H. and Alexander won the heats for the division.<\/p>\n

Racing continues at Speedway 95 on Saturday, May 17 at 7:00 p.m. featuring the Coca-Cola series 35 lap race #1 for the Sport-Four division. The Dysart\u2019s Late Models, Darling\u2019s Ford Sportsman and Keystone Automotive Strictly Streets will also be in action, with a Ride with your favorite driver session starting the night off at 6:30.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
