{"id":13540,"date":"2014-07-16T16:33:27","date_gmt":"2014-07-16T20:33:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.maineracing.com\/wp\/?p=13540"},"modified":"2014-07-16T16:33:27","modified_gmt":"2014-07-16T20:33:27","slug":"history-making-packard-wins-devils-bowl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/2014\/07\/history-making-packard-wins-devils-bowl\/","title":{"rendered":"History in the Making: Packard wins at Devil\u2019s Bowl"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_10205\" style=\"width: 270px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10205\" class=\"wp-image-10205 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.maineracing.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/emily-mug-260x300.jpg\" alt=\"Emily Packard\" width=\"260\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/emily-mug-260x300.jpg 260w, https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/emily-mug.jpg 378w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 260px) 100vw, 260px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10205\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Emily Packard<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Becomes First Female and Youngest Driver to win here<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>EAST MONTPELIER, Vt \u2013\u00a0 \u00a0History was made <span data-term=\"goog_1102209245\">on Friday<\/span> night, as Emily Packard found her way to victory lane at Devil\u2019s Bowl Speedway, becoming the first female and youngest driver to win a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series event in the Late Model division feature race here.\u00a0 Following up her second place finish from the week before, Packard was hungry for her first win of the season, and drove her 9x Northstar Fireworks\/Packard Fuels car with determination to accomplish just that.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe guys had the car set-up perfectly tonight and I was able to drive it to the front,\u201d said Packard.\u00a0 Packard had started third in her heat race and won, giving her the outside pole for the feature race.\u00a0 When the green fell, Packard wasted no time driving to the lead, and never looked back.\u00a0 Packard dominated, leading all 30 laps of the race, and winning by three quarters of a straight away over the runner up.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis win means a lot to me,\u201d Packard said, \u201cDevil\u2019s Bowl is my favorite track and we finally were able to put all the pieces of the puzzle together and win here.\u00a0 It feels amazing.\u201d\u00a0 Packard was greeted in victory lane with a pink checkered flag to commemorate her being the first female to win in the Late Model division.\u00a0 \u201cAlayne (Bruno) has been joking with me that if I won a feature race she would have a pink checkered flag for me in victory lane, and she was true to her word,\u201d Packard said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA huge thank you goes out to Neal and the guys for giving me a great car tonight, one that we were capable of putting in victory lane,\u201d Packard said. \u201cSpecial thanks to all my sponsors, Northstar Fireworks, Packard Fuels, Yipes! of Barre, Fecteau Homes, Berlin Optical Expressions, GossCars.com, Be the Match, Rutland Regional Medical Center, and R.G.
