{"id":1412,"date":"2010-04-13T22:15:33","date_gmt":"2010-04-13T22:15:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maineracer.com\/wp\/?p=1412"},"modified":"2010-04-13T22:15:33","modified_gmt":"2010-04-13T22:15:33","slug":"american-canadian-tour-at-lee-usa-speedway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/2010\/04\/american-canadian-tour-at-lee-usa-speedway\/","title":{"rendered":"AMERICAN CANADIAN TOUR AT LEE USA SPEEDWAY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p \/>LEE, NH &#8211; The 2010 racing season at the Lee USA Speedway is set to begin<br \/> with a two-day event on this weekend, April 17th and 18th, headlined by  the<br \/> season opening American-Canadian Tour, &#8220;New Hampshire Governors Cup 150&#8221;  on<br \/> Sunday afternoon.<br \/>\n<br \/><!--more--><\/p>\n<p> Close to 60 race teams have pre-entered for the ACT opener at Lee, which<br \/> proved to be one of the most exciting races on their schedule in 2009.  With<br \/> an outcome in doubt right to the end and nine lead changes, Brad  Leighton of<br \/> Center Harbor, N.H., beat local teenage sensation Joey Polewarczyk of  Hudson<br \/> to the finish line in front of a packed grandstand.<\/p>\n<p> All of the favorites to win the ACT Championship will be on hand to  compete,<br \/> including Brian Hoar, Jean-Paul Cyr and Polewarczyk. Leighton will also<br \/> return with hopes a repeat victory in a race that once again earns the<br \/> victor a guaranteed spot for the New Hampshire Motor Speedway second  annual<br \/> &#8220;ACT Invitational&#8221; in September.<\/p>\n<p> Drivers sure to give Leighton a run for the money in this event include<br \/> Oxford 250 winner Eddie MacDonald and 2009 Lee Speedway NASCAR Late  Model<br \/> Champion Wayne Helliwell Jr.<\/p>\n<p> Thirty cars are scheduled to start the event, with positions set through<br \/> Sunday heat and consolation races, beginning at 1:15 PM. The ACT Tour<br \/> weekend will include Saturday practice sessions as well.<\/p>\n<p> All other Lee Speedway NASCAR Whelen All-American Weekly Series  divisions<br \/> will practice and qualify on Saturday, with feature events held on  Sunday<br \/> afternoon.<\/p>\n<p> The Late Model Sportsman division has a banner field of entries for this<br \/> event, including 2009 Lee Champion Grant Aither from Exeter, and  multi-time<br \/> champion Bobby Gahan of Barrington. This open competition event is sure  to<br \/> bring a full field of race cars to the 3\/8 mile oval.<\/p>\n<p> Other competing divisions include the Small Block Supermodifieds, Hobby<br \/> Stocks, Road Runners, Ironman and the Allison Legacy Series.<\/p>\n<p> Saturday&#8217;s schedule includes practice for all divisions beginning at 12<br \/> Noon, followed by weekly division heat races and then a final practice<br \/> session to end the day. On Sunday, the ACT Tour will be allowed one  final<br \/> hour of practice at 12 Noon, followed by ACT qualifying events, which  will<br \/> be separated by Lee Weekly Series feature events and the Allison Legacy<br \/> Series race.<\/p>\n<p> Weekend admission is just $25 for adults, $15 for Students aged 13 to  16,<br \/> with Kids 12 and under always admitted free of charge at &#8220;New  Hampshire&#8217;s<br \/> Center of Speed&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p> Following this season opener at Lee, the focus then shifts to the  regular<br \/> season. An open practice, &#8220;Test and Tune&#8221; day will be held on Saturday  April<br \/> 24th, beginning at 12 Noon.<\/p>\n<p> Due to ongoing delays in court proceedings, the NASCAR Whelen  All-American<br \/> Weekly Series Opener is now scheduled for Friday, April 30th instead of<br \/> Saturday, May 1st.
