Griffith recently raced at New Smyrna in the Red Eye 100 in preparation for the 2015 Speedweeks event and brought home a very respectable eighth-place finish. \u201cWe really had a fantastic car at the Red Eye\u201d, explained Griffith. \u201cWe competed with some of the best drivers on the East Coast and held our own, it was a good race and I think it\u2019ll help us during Speedweeks.\u201d<\/p>\n
Derek will try and capture his first Super Late Model Speedweeks title and his Crew Chief is no stranger to New Smyrna Speedway success, Griffith explains, \u201cLouie [Mechalides] has two championships down here as a driver and with the cars he sets up for us, I\u2019m confident that we\u2019ll be fast right off the hauler. This really gives us an advantage over a bunch of teams. Now is our time to get it done\u201d.<\/p>\n
Griffith will pilot his familiar #12 MOM\u2019s of Manchester\/LCM Racing Toyota Camry during the week-long event, Derek\u2019s first race will be on Friday, February 12th<\/sup> and concludes with a 100-lap event on Saturday, February 21st<\/sup>.
