The 16-year-old Theriault made his 2010 debut at Oxford Plains Speedway last month, leading laps early in the race before finishing 16th. He heads to Lee USA having competed there last weekend in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model event.

WHO: Austin Theriault, Fort Kent, Maine
TEAM: No. 57 Varney Insurance/Hogan Tire/Daigle & Houghton Ford Fusion
BEST CAREER LEE USA SPEEDWAY FINISH: N/A
LAST RACE AT LEE USA SPEEDWAY: N/A

WHAT: ACT Late Model Tour NH Governor’s Cup 150
WHERE: Lee USA Speedway, Lee, N.H. It’s more difficult to pass there than I thought it would be. The bottom groove really seems like it’s the way to go. We threw a lot of different setups at the car, and I think we really hit it during the feature before we ran into trouble.

HOW NICE WILL IT BE TO GO BACK TO LEE THIS WEEKEND WITH AT LEAST SOME EXPERIENCE UNDER YOUR BELT?

It’s going to be nice. Instead of spending the first couple of practices getting used to the track, you can spend the first couple of practices getting the car set up for the track. If you haven’t been somewhere before, you almost have to throw those (early) practices out, and then realistically, you only have one or two practices left.

We can go there now and work on the setup instead of getting comfortable out there. That’s a big thing for me.

ARE YOU READY TO GET BACK TO TOUR RACING AFTER A FEW WEEKS OFF?

I’m pretty anxious. I like the longer distance races. The competition is harder, too, but you can still learn a lot from the other competitors. I guess compared to a weekly event, a 35-lap feature or something like that where everyone’s rushing to the front right off, it’s nice to have the time to work toward the front.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THIS EVENT?

Obviously, you want to make sure you make the race, but I’d also like to get a top-10 finish. Now that we’ve been to that track, I know it’s possible with the car we have. The car was going pretty good before the wreck, so I think we can do that.

Forum – http://www.maineracer.com/board/viewtopic.php?p=141722#141722

Austin Theriault: ACT Late Model TourLee USA Speedway Race Preview Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, continues his drive to become the ACT Late Model Tour Rookie of the Year when the series heads to the NH Governor’s Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, N.H., on Friday, June 11.
