New Smyrna Beach, Florida \u2013<\/b><\/span> After competing in the Florida Governors Cup and the Red Eye 100 at New Smyrna late last year and early in 2015, the Derek Griffith race team were gearing up for their most successful speedweeks to date.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, after a lap one skirmish that left the No 12 Mom’s of Manchester Toyota Camry on the wrecker back in the pits, the young New Hampshire driver had a lot to think about.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI hated what happened on lap one, Louie [Crew Chief Louie Mechalides] put such a good car under me, for us to get wrecked on lap one was terrible.<\/span><\/p>\n

We really need to thank a bunch of teams and people for helping us out, without teams like <\/span>Hillbilly racing, Ryan Moore, and our neighbors with the #112, we wouldn’t had even made it out there at all. I should also mention our whole Griffith race team worked throughout the night to get us back on the track.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It’s really a testament to how hard our team works, we didn’t get the finishes we had hoped for but I think our team is even closer, after an experience like this\u201d, remarked Griffith.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Griffith will use the notes they gathered from New Smyrna to prepare for the upcoming Ice Breaker event at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in April. Griffith talked about how they think they will do at Thompson<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur notes will translate well and I’m sure Louie will prepare a car that is capable of visiting victory lane at Thompson. The tracks are very similar to each other, so the set-up should be close and I am a lot more comfortable at these bigger tracks. I really think we’ll have a car to beat.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The No. 12 LCM Racing\/Tyngsboro Motors Toyota will be back in action April 11-12<\/span><\/span> at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, competing in the Granite State Pro Stocks 40-lap event.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
