{"id":14486,"date":"2015-03-19T16:59:53","date_gmt":"2015-03-19T20:59:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.maineracing.com\/wp\/?p=14486"},"modified":"2015-03-19T16:59:53","modified_gmt":"2015-03-19T20:59:53","slug":"season-title-contenders-file-entries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/2015\/03\/season-title-contenders-file-entries\/","title":{"rendered":"Season Title Contenders File Entries"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_14487\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14487\" class=\"wp-image-14487 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.maineracing.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Larry-Gelanis-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"photo from GSPSS\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-14487\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">photo from GSPSS<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Lanpher Looks for Redemption at IceBreaker<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Walpole, NH-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Just weeks away from the start of the 2015 season, the title hunt is beginning to take shape for the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A mix of veteran and young drivers have made the commitment to become the fourth champion in series history.\u00a0 Former Oxford 250 winner (1996), \u201cLightning\u201d Larry Gelinas has announced his intentions of being crowned champion.\u00a0 The Buxton, ME driver set a torrid pace in the first half of the 2014 season, including five (5) top-5 finishes in the first five races, including a win at Hudson International Speedway, but back-to-back finishes outside the top-15 put a damper on Gelinas\u2019 bid on the championship, ending the season with a third-place overall finish in the standings.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Another driver throwing his name in the hat, Barry Gray is a legend at Monadnock Speedway, where he owns three (3) GSPSS wins at the Winchester, NH track.\u00a0 Gray also has racked up many wins at Claremont Speedway, which returns to the tour schedule since the first race of the series in 2011.\u00a0 After an up-and-down season, Gray finished out the year 6<sup>th<\/sup> in the point standings, including a win at Monadnock Speedway.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After finishing 4<sup>th<\/sup> in the championship standings just one year ago, Derek Griffith is looking to capitalize on his consistency, in which he led the tour in top-10 finishes in 2014.\u00a0 Griffith is searching for his first GSPSS win, finishing runner-up three times in his career with the series.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Also looking for their first GSPSS victories, Mike Parks and Cory Robert have filed full-season entries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Beech Ridge regular Reid Lanpher will bring his team back to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park for the series opener at the IceBreaker, <span data-term=\"goog_684299244\">April 10-12<\/span>.\u00a0 Lanpher was among the cars to beat at the season-ending World Series in 2014, before retiring early from the race.\u00a0 The youngster is, once again, tabbed as an early favorite heading into the 5\/8-mile oval.\u00a0 Veterans Zig Geno and Greg Nanigian, along with John Salemi and Cory Casagrande have also filed entries to the first 2015 event.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These drivers, and more, will open the season at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park for the IceBreaker, <span data-term=\"goog_684299245\">April 10-12<\/span>.\u00a0 For more information, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gspss.net\/\">www.gspss.net<\/a>, like us on Facebook, or contact Mike Parks, <a href=\"mailto:mparks@gspss.net\">mparks@gspss.net<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lanpher Looks for Redemption at IceBreaker \u00a0 Walpole, NH-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Just weeks away from the start of the 2015 season, the title hunt is beginning to take shape for the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS). &nbsp;
