EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. \u2013 After making history at Devil’s Bowl Speedway back in July 2014, Packard and the Northstar Fireworks\/Packard Fuels team have been looking forward to the race here. Back on July 11, 2014, Packard became the first woman and the youngest driver to win a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series event in the Late Model division feature race at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. “I am excited to go back to Devil’s Bowl Speedway this weekend,” said Packard “I got my first late model win there and had a really successful season last year. It is going to be a lot of fun returning there.”<\/p>\n

Packard ran the full season at Devil’s Bowl in 2014, where she finished third in the championship battle with 3 wins, 10 top-5’s and 12 top-10’s in thirteen starts. “This is the second track I ever drove my late model at and I enjoyed it right from the start,” Packard said. “It is a spacious track with long straightaways and tight corners. I really like racing this kind of track versus a tight bull ring.”

Packard and the team are cautiously optimistic about the Peoples United Bank 100 race this weekend, having run so many laps there last season, but know that there are a lot of talented drivers that will be racing Saturday night. “We are going to stack up fair against the competition,” said Packard, “but there is a ton of experienced drivers and super-fast cars that will be racing. I would like to think that I have a slight advantage, but there is a lot of experience that will be showing up, so it’s hard to say I have any advantage.” <\/p>\n

Packard currently sits tied for 5th in American Canadian Tour points as we head to Devil’s Bowl this weekend. “I hope to have a good, solid run this weekend,” Packard said. “Sure I am hoping for a big win this season, and would love for it to be at Devil’s Bowl Speedway as it is one of my favorite tracks to race at, but a solid qualifying and finish would be good too.”<\/p>\n
