\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Oxford, Maine —<\/strong> Shawn Knight of South Paris drove from deep in the field to victory lane in the 50-lap Budweiser Championship Series main event, topping the racing card at Oxford Plains Speedway Saturday<\/span> night.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It was Knight\u2019s first start this season in the class, and his impressive performance extended the streak of different Super Late Model winners at OPS to seven this season.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Knight claimed the race lead late in the event from Hebron\u2019s Alan Wilson, one of the Speedway\u2019s most prolific winners in a career that kicked off in the 1970s.\u00a0 Wilson, one of the six drivers in the aforementioned streak prior to Knight\u2019s triumph, claimed runner-up honors.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Kyle Treadwell of Buckfield closed the gap on championship leader and former track champion Timmy Brackett with a late charge into third position.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Super Late Model freshman Spencer Morse of Waterford led more laps than anyone en route to his fourth-place finish in the Oxford Hills Middle School car.\u00a0 Vanna Brackett of Buckfield rounded out the top-five to remain ranked in the top-three among championship contenders.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Rookie Morse won his first heat race earlier in the racing card.\u00a0 Title contender Treadwell, in his second season in the top class, helped his championship cause with a score in heat race two.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Bryce Mains of Naples had a career-best run in Allen\u2019s Coffee Flavored Brandy Street Stock competition, holding off Brownfield\u2019s Matt Williams for the victory driving a car that the runner-up had previously driven to victory.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

While the two frontrunners had their own battle ongoing well in front of the rest of the field in the 30-lapper, Andrew Breton of Sabattus held off a pack of challengers to score a second straight podium finish.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Leading Street Stock rookie Calvin Rose, Jr. of Turner was fourth across the line, followed by Oxford\u2019s Josh Childs.\u00a0 Mains and Childs won heat races.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Scott Alexander of Newburgh coasted to victory in the 25-lap feature race for OPS mods.\u00a0 Third-generation racer Evan Armington of Lovell claimed runner-up honors in front of Livermore\u2019s Scott McDaniel.\u00a0 Westbrook\u2019s Matty Sanborn and rookie Nik Coates of Turner rounded out the top five. Alexander also won the heat race.<\/p>\n

Waterford\u2019s Jamie Heath raced to victory lane following an impressive performance in the 20-lap main event for the entry level OCS Bandits class.\u00a0 Heath outran the division\u2019s points leader, Shaun Hinkley of Oxford, to the checkered flag. Cam Childs of Leeds held off New Gloucester\u2019s Dan Wade for the final podium position. Wade and Hinkley won heat races.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Jon Lizotte remained undefeated in 21st<\/sup> Century Figure 8 competition at OPS.\u00a0 Lizotte managed to claim the lead early in the 15-lapper, but his margin of victory was the smallest of the season for the undefeated Hall of Famer.\u00a0 Allan Higgins of Brunswick was the runner-up, with Auburn\u2019s Mike St. Germain claiming third-place hardware.<\/p>\n
