{"id":15161,"date":"2015-07-24T18:02:16","date_gmt":"2015-07-24T22:02:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.maineracing.com\/wp\/?p=15161"},"modified":"2015-07-24T18:02:16","modified_gmt":"2015-07-24T22:02:16","slug":"granite-state-pro-stock-series-at-lee-usa-speedway-a-closer-look-at-the-numbers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/2015\/07\/granite-state-pro-stock-series-at-lee-usa-speedway-a-closer-look-at-the-numbers\/","title":{"rendered":"Granite State Pro Stock Series at Lee USA Speedway:  A Closer Look at the Numbers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-12231\" src=\"http:\/\/www.maineracing.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/GSPS2.jpg\" alt=\"GSPS2\" width=\"463\" height=\"171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/GSPS2.jpg 463w, https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/GSPS2-300x110.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 463px) 100vw, 463px\" \/>LEE, NH \u2013 The Granite State Pro Stock Series will travel to Lee USA Speedway, on July 24, for the Seacoast 100.\u00a0 The Seacoast 100 will be the seventh event of the 12-race season, and will be the second time the Granite State Pro Stock Series has visited the facility since the series\u2019 inception.\u00a0 The following is a closer look at the numbers of the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS), and Lee USA Speedway.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>LEE USA SPEEDWAY NOTES<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bob Bonser first opened Lee Raceway in 1964.\u00a0 The track was a 1\/3 mile dirt tri-oval, and had two different elevation changes, uphill and downhill.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0<!--more-->\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In 1965, Bonser paved the dirt track, in hopes of bringing the NESMRA (New England Super Modified Racing Association) to the facility.\u00a0 The NESMRA made their debut in 1965, making Lee Raceway their \u201chome track\u201d.\u00a0 That season also featured the only winter snow race in the history of the facility.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Due to financial concerns, Lee Raceway was closed in 1979.\u00a0 It reopened in 1984, under a trio of owners (Kenny Smith, Russ Conway, and Charlie Elliott), who had owned Star Speedway, and Hudson International Speedway, as well.\u00a0 The trio renamed the oval \u201cLee USA Speedway\u201d, running the first oval race on July 4, 1984.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The first ever Oktoberfest, the track\u2019s marquee event, was held in October of 1984, with Paul Richardson winning the first-ever Super Modified feature during the inaugural event.\u00a0 The event was one of the largest in New England short track racing history, with over 300 entrants, and well over 7,000 fans in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Running special events only, the track was sold to the MacDonald family in December of 1986. The MacDonald era began in 1987, as weekly racing at Lee USA Speedway became a staple, and the track has hosted weekly action since.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lee has hosted some NASCAR drivers at the facility.\u00a0 A 19-year-old Jeff Gordon, who tested one of Red MacDonald\u2019s Super Modifieds at the track, had an interesting visit to the track, crashing into the front stretch wall.\u00a0 Others were part of the \u201cBudweiser Shootout\u201d, which came to Lee USA Speedway in 1985 and 1986, featuring the stars of the top series in NASCAR at the time, including Terry Labonte, Buddy Baker, Tim Richmond, and Dale Earnhardt Sr.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>SEACOAST 100 RACE INFO<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>SEACOAST 100:\u00a0 Race 7 of 12 on 2015 season<\/p>\n<p>TRACK LENGTH:\u00a0 3\/8-mile STATISTICS<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Granite State Pro Stock Series has only raced at the facility once, in which Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. beat out Larry Gelinas and Derek Griffith to take the top honors.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 There were 29
