{"id":1580,"date":"2008-04-23T14:46:49","date_gmt":"2008-04-23T14:46:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maineracer.com\/wp\/?p=1580"},"modified":"2008-04-23T14:46:49","modified_gmt":"2008-04-23T14:46:49","slug":"asm-makes-nascar-history-yet-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/2008\/04\/asm-makes-nascar-history-yet-again\/","title":{"rendered":"ASM Makes NASCAR History Yet Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"3\" color=\"#000000\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">Harrisburg<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">,  <\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">NC<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: Arial\"> &ndash; NASCAR announced today that the #44 Chevrolet  driven by Peyton Sellers would earn 30<sup>th<\/sup> place points and forfeit  it&rsquo;s season-opening win in the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150 at Greenville  Pickens Speedway due to a rules infraction.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Per NASCAR, this decision can not be  appealed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/font><\/font><br \/><!--more--><br \/><font><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"3\" color=\"#000000\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">H.C. Sellers was also banned from the next three  NASCAR Camping World East Series events.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">&ldquo;Needless to say we are shocked and disappointed,&rdquo;  ASM owner Andy Santerre stated.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>&ldquo;We  are being made an example.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>We admit  there was a rules infraction, it was a shock to us as much as it was  unintentional and unknown prior to post-race inspection.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>We conceded that and worked with NASCAR  to make sure it was not found in any of the other shocks or on the second ASM  car.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>It was not.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>We understood there would be  ramifications, but to go against past precedent and take the win is  disappointing.&rdquo;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">Santerre continues, &ldquo;The one thing we know in the  NCWES is if we finish in the top-5, which for ASM, is about every week, the  tranny, the rear gear and the shocks are coming apart.
