\"American-Canadian-Tour\"\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Waterbury, VT<\/em> \u2013 The American Racer Three Star program will continue in 2016. The program is designed to recognize three teams in no particular order of performance that had outstanding races at ACT US Tour events. There are no specific criteria for deciding who might receive the award of a free American Racer Tire (value $125.00), but a special effort by a team, exceptional race, just plain old hard luck, or other accepted reason to give the award is used to decide the recipients.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The three stars are chosen by officials and winners will receive certificates for the use of a free American Racer tire at a future Tour race of their choosing during 2016.<\/em><\/p>\n

The awarding of the stars does not allow for anybody in the top three to receive the recognition. <\/em><\/p>\n

COMMENTARY:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The annual return to Devil\u2019s Bowl Speedway for the John Bruno Memorial was memorable for a number of reasons. First, only the second race of the season (since April 8th<\/sup>) that a race was not affected by rain!! A picture perfect evening for stock car racing, with a great and enthusiastic crowd, a very good car count, and basically two races in one to watch as a fan. Two title contenders, with Nick Sweet and Wayne Helliwell, Jr., battled for the entire 100 laps, but back in the middle was a continual race among 8-10 other teams that mixed it up on the beautiful Devil\u2019s Bowl \u00bd mile. Without a yellow caution coming out until the 79th<\/sup> lap, there was plenty of opportunity for teams who planned for the cooler night temperatures to prove them either on target or off the pace. Below are Star Awards for three of many who may have deserved it, in what turned out to be a very different 100-lap event with yellows all coming out from lap 79-91.<\/p>\n

RICH DUBEAU, LEBANON, NH\u2014 30NH\u00a0\u00a0 \u2014 <\/strong>Once again the 2015 ACT Rookie of the Year team earns an American Racer Star award. This week it results in a back-to-back Star award after capturing one of the Stars at Waterford a couple weeks ago. With a rough start to their sophomore season of touring, the positive and enthusiastic 30NH team showed they could bounce back from what was not a productive beginning of the season. Nineteenth (19th<\/sup>) at OPS, twenty-third (23rd<\/sup>) at Lee, twenty-eighth (28th<\/sup>) at TR started the season for the young team. A very respectable seventh (7th<\/sup>) at Waterford a couple weeks ago gave the team a needed lift. An outstanding and competitive highest career finish fourth (4th<\/sup>) place at Devil\u2019s Bowl defines just what a positive and \u201cnever give up\u201d attitude can do. Congratulations to the Rich Dubeau team for their effort at Devil\u2019s Bowl, they are certainly worthy of another American Racer Star of the Race award.<\/p>\n

MARK JENISON, Warwick, RI\u201422RI\u2014 <\/strong>The official finish of 28th<\/sup> does not define the day the Jenison team had at the Devil\u2019s Bowl \u00bd mile. The young team from Rhode Island made a commitment to run the ACT US this season and have been dedicated to make all the hauls for the first half of the season. Their dedication and improvement were very apparent at D Bowl. Without question the heat, and especially the consolation race, were huge competitive improvements for this team running long distance events at tracks, most of which they had never seen. A broken rear-end late in the feature stopped what would have been an outstanding effort at Devil\u2019s Bowl. For their dedication and continued improvement, especially on the flat half mile, this team is well deserving of an American Racer Star of the Race award. They deserved a better finish than the bad luck in this 100-lap effort and have certainly proven that there is no quit in this team. Congratulations to the 22RI team on what should have been their best finish and outing of the year.<\/p>\n

LUKE HINKLEY, Claremont, NH \u201331NH \u2013 <\/strong>After well-known health issues that sidelined Luke a year ago, there was some doubt whether he could get back to the competitive form he was known for prior to the end of his racing a last year. Certainly lots of people were pulling for him, but it was clear at LEE USA that it would take some time to come back into form with a 20th,<\/sup> one lap down finish. For this veteran, the Thunder Road 150-lap event in May proved to be a turning point, along with some Claremont Speedway weekly races. It was determination and lots of courage to get back to form, but all concerns about the competitiveness of the 31H team should be dispelled after his solid top five finish at Devil\u2019s Bowl. Having his team in the pits with their positive spirit is appreciated by everyone. Having the 31NH competitive is not only a personal achievement, but a sure sign that staying positive, never quitting, and having a supporting family and team can make good things happen for good people. For the 5th<\/sup> place finish at Devil\u2019s Bowl\u00a0 this award is well deserved. Congratulations to the 31NH team and family.<\/p>\n
