Smith was a full-time driver for Fadden Racing under the Drive for Diversity program in 2009, and will return to the famed No. 16 at the New England 125 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on June 25.

“We’re looking forward to having Jonathan back in the car,” said car owner Mike Olsen. “I really felt at the end of last year we were all starting to gel. For most of his career, Jonathan has had to jump from team to team and never really has had the opportunity for a chemistry to build up. I’m glad we can give him a team that he feels comfortable with.”

Primary sponsorship will be shared on the familiar blue Fadden Racing Chevrolet at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Riondo, a company focused on delivering exceptional quality in wines from Italy, will join Athlete’s for America, a growing National and International Network of Athletes, sports teams and sports organizations that are committed to promoting and participating in emergency preparedness training programs.

” We’ve been in touch with Mike Olsen throughout the entire off season and the beginning of this season. When we finally picked up a couple of sponsors, there was no doubt that I would go back to Fadden Racing,” said Smith. “We did so well last year. I have faith in them and we were getting better and better and better last season and then the season ended. It will be nice to come back and prove that we can pick up where we left off.”

Smith’s career began on BMX bikes in early childhood, but progressed to go-karts and then Late Models at Stafford Motor Speedway, where K&N Pro Series East veteran Barney McRae noticed his ability behind the wheel. The 20-year-old Beacon Falls, Conn. native competed full time in the K&N Pro Series East for three seasons until lack of sponsorship cut back his schedule in 2010. At New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Smith has a total six starts with a career best finish of 17th place. His goal for the New England 125 is a top-ten.

“Patience, patience, patience is key,” said Smith. “You have to save your stuff for the end, but you don’t want to be running at the back of the pack either. There’s a fine balance between using up your stuff and going too easy and falling behind. I’d be happy with a top-10, but it would mean a lot more if I can get a top-five. That’s really what I’m aiming for.”

The New England 125 takes the green flag on Friday, June 25.
