Lee, NH – The New England Pro-4 Modifieds were the added attraction at Lee USA Speedway on Friday<\/span><\/span> night, making for another full night of racing action at \u201cNew Hampshire\u2019s Center of Speed\u201d, along with the weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing action.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Robin Berghman, acknowledged as the country\u2019s first female driver to claim a touring series championship, once again rose to the top, outrunning the field to take down the win. Berghman is the daughter-in-law of the legendary Bugsy Stevens, a longtime standout on the NASCAR Modified tour back in the in the 1960\u2019s and \u201870\u2018s.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Family traditions carried on for the rest of the podium finishers, as second-generation racer Norm Wren III claimed second place honors, with third-generation racer Brett Meservey taking home third place honors.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Wrenn\u2019s father Norm was a standout Pro Stock racer at Lee for years, claiming the biggest win of his career in the Lee USA Downeast Drilling Pro Stock Nationals, while Brett\u2019s grandfather Dan, Sr. first found his way to victory lane on the old Tri-Oval Lee Raceway back in the mid-1970\u2019s in NEMMA (the predecessor to today\u2018s Pro-4\u2018s) action.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Phil Lausier in the RF Logic machine grabbed fourth place honors, and Doug Meservey, Jr. rounded out the top five in the Pro-4 division, while veteran Allan Rieser, Jr. claimed the top spot in the Pro-4 Lites, with Mark Charette and Dion Doyle taking second and third.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Lee USA\u2019s weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series EKeys4cars Supermodifieds ran a 30-lap feature event on Friday<\/span><\/span> as well, with Fremont\u2018s Lance Barthelemy dominating the action to claim his third main event win of the 2016 campaign with a flag to flag run. <\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Rookie Super driver Dave \u201cHollywood\u201d Helliwell of Pelham took down second place honors with a late-race charge, followed by veteran Moe Lattime of Kingston, Jim Lowrey, Jr. of Tilton, 2015 Rookie of the Year Mike Keddy, Mike Spurling of Rochester, Auburn\u2019s Mike Netishen, P.J. Murphy of Groveland, MA, Jim Barker of Meredith, and Leslie Keyser of Northfield.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Frankie Eldredge of Stratham scored his first win of the year in the R & R Public Wholesalers Late Model Sportsman division, grabbing the lead from Jesse Bousquet of Pittsfield on lap six, and going the distance from there to collect his first checkered flag of 2016.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Jimmy Russell of Exeter slipped past to lead a couple of laps at mid-race, but he eventually settled for another runner-up finish, with points leader Nate Leavitt of Buxton, ME third. <\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Fourth went to 2015 champ Jay Sands of Hampton, followed by rookie contender Kris Miller of Bedford, George Helliwell of Pelham, Jesse Bousquet of Pittsfield, Trevor Randlett of Holderness, Ray Dinsmore of Waterboro, ME, and Bobby Melvin of Groton, MA. <\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

The David\u2019s Race Cars and Components Hobby Stocks had a pair of 25-lap feature events on the night, with Berwick, ME\u2019s Boe Green taking both wins to collect the overall bonus for the evening. Green\u2019s son Ryan was best of the rest in the second 25-lapper, with Kevin Aberle of Wilmington, MA getting his best finish of the season in the third spot.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Adam Knowles of Seabrook made his second 2016 trip to victory lane in the Tri-City Line-X Ironman feature event, holding off Jamie Holland, points leader Ryan Pitkin of Lee, Rookie Ryan Washburn of Dover, former champ Travis Hollins, Christin DeStefano of Tewksbury, MA, Kaycie Kustra of Lee, Mike Farrington of Rochester, and John Blanchard of Dracut, MA.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Epping\u2018s Tyler Mailhot scored his sixth win of the year in the Pure Stock main event, holding off Claremont\u2018s Alex Poisson for the win. John Boomhower of Epping rounded out the podium with a third place run.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Next up at Lee USA is the annual running of the Lance Davis Memorial for Late Model Sportsmen, run in honor of the longtime Lee USA racer who passed away well before his time.
