Even though it\u2019s a month late, the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) is set to celebrate the life of John Hoyt this Saturday<\/span> night at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, New Hampshire.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The 100 lap main event will honor Hoyt, the co-founder of the series, who unexpectedly passed away in 2011. The race was originally scheduled for August 13<\/span>, but rain forced the race to be rescheduled and it now it is the final event in September for the GSPSS.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Since the race was originally scheduled to run, the GSPSS has run a race at Wiscasset Speedway, won by DJ Shaw, and Star Speedway, won by Joey Squeglia. Shaw has been on a roll of late and currently leads the point standings by 20 points with just two races to go in the 2016 campaign.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Trailing Shaw is Belchertown, Massachusetts driver Barry Gray, who is a former winner with the series at Monadnock and was a former regular there.\u00a0 Gray has struggled of late, finishing eighth at Wiscasset but then 14th<\/sup> in the series stop at Star last weekend after being involved in a wreck.<\/p>\n

He is hoping a visit to a track he is familiar with will help him get back in the championship chase.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI feel confident with what we are doing with our own car as of late,\u201d Gray said.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cCircumstances are going to fall the way they fall. I don\u2019t put any added pressure on myself going to Monadnock. DJ (Shaw) has been fast, you have to give him credit. He missed the first race and is still 20 points ahead. He\u2019s been the guy.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Gray will be hoping to chase down Shaw, while others will be hoping to close the gap in front of them to the top two. Cory Casagrande comes into the race 58 points from the top, with Mike Mitchell sitting 66 out. Jeremy Davis currently rounds out the top five in his No. 09.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The star-studded field of the GSPSS will be joined by the Young Guns, Classic Lites, Lightning Stocks, Mini Stocks, Thunder Stocks, Sportsman Modifieds and Super Stocks.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Pit gates open at noon<\/span>, with the GSPSS kicking off practice at 2 p.m.<\/span>, with a 45-minute session. The series will also have a final 15-minute practice session at 4:20 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

GSPSS is last in the heat racing order and last in the feature racing order for the 100 lap main event.<\/p>\n
