{"id":16629,"date":"2016-09-26T09:14:40","date_gmt":"2016-09-26T13:14:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maineracing.com\/16\/?p=16629"},"modified":"2016-09-26T09:14:40","modified_gmt":"2016-09-26T13:14:40","slug":"tate-fogleman-takes-long-awaited-1st-career-pass-south-win-hickory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/2016\/09\/tate-fogleman-takes-long-awaited-1st-career-pass-south-win-hickory\/","title":{"rendered":"Tate Fogleman Takes Long Awaited 1st Career PASS South Win At Hickory"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_16630\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16630\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16630\" src=\"http:\/\/maineracing.com\/16\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_1313-1280x855-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"PASS photo\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_1313-1280x855-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_1313-1280x855-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_1313-1280x855-1024x684.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_1313-1280x855-1080x721.jpg 1080w, https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_1313-1280x855.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-16630\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">PASS photo<\/p><\/div>\n<p>HICKORY, NC (September 24) \u2013 Defending Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model Champion, Tate Fogleman, prevailed in a race-long battle with Chris Dilbeck to capture his first career series win in the Catawba Valley 150 <span data-term=\"goog_650450460\">on Saturday<\/span> night at Hickory Motor Speedway.\u00a0 With his win, Fogleman and his father, Jay, join Mike and Ben Rowe as the only father-son duo to ever capture wins in the South\u2019s oldest Super Late Model tour.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, it\u2019s definitely been a long time coming, that\u2019s for sure,\u201d said Fogleman in an emotional victory lane.\u00a0 \u201cHe [Dilbeck] definitely put up a fight there at the end and I had my work cut out for me to get around him.\u00a0 This has been the closest we\u2019ve been to victory lane and I just couldn\u2019t let that one get away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In qualifying, rookie Kodie Conner captured his first career quick qualifying lap with a time of 14.924 seconds (87.563 MPH).\u00a0 After the top 10 qualifiers redraw, Conner would drop to the ninth starting position, while six-time Hickory winner, Preston Peltier, and Lucas Jones would move to the front row.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>While Peltier would jump into the lead at the start, Conner and fellow PASS South championship contender, Matt Craig, would be plagued with problems.\u00a0 Conner would suffer a flight right front tire after contact with Jones as they battled for fifth on lap four.\u00a0 On the restart, Craig would suffer a broken axle, ending his night early with a 26<sup>th<\/sup> place finish.\u00a0 Conner would struggle all night and finish 14<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Conner now leads the standings over Craig by less than 10 points heading to the championship finale at Concord Speedway on <span data-term=\"goog_650450461\">November 5<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fogleman was able to gain the lead from Peltier on an early restart, only to be passed by seventh place starter, Tyler Church, on lap 20.\u00a0 Church would continue to lead the early going, but the caution would wave again on lap 40 when Jimmy Doyle and Nick Robinson made hard contact with the backstretch wall.<\/p>\n<p>After a spin by Tyler Williams and Kaylee Stukas three laps later, June Hickory winner Chris Dilbeck would flex his muscle as he bypassed Church for the lead.\u00a0 The caution flag waved again on lap 63 for a spin in turn two by Andy Loden.\u00a0 During the caution, Peltier, who had been dropping back, pitted to fix a power steering issue.<\/p>\n<p>While Dilbeck continued to lead, Peltier and Loden were dicing their way back up through the field and into the top 10.\u00a0 Following a crash by Justin Laduke with 36 laps to go, Fogleman would get the best of Dilbeck on the restart to move back into the lead.\u00a0 The leaders would make contact in turn two with 25 laps to go, causing both cars to momentarily get sideways, but they would gather it back in and continue the fight.<\/p>\n<p>The final caution of the night would wave with 12 laps to go for a scary crash involving Jones and Trey Jarrell as they battled for fourth.
