{"id":16982,"date":"2017-03-14T19:05:16","date_gmt":"2017-03-14T23:05:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.maineracing.com\/wp\/?p=16982"},"modified":"2017-03-14T19:05:16","modified_gmt":"2017-03-14T23:05:16","slug":"kate-re-full-speed-wiscasset-speedway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/2017\/03\/kate-re-full-speed-wiscasset-speedway\/","title":{"rendered":"Kate Re \u201cFull Speed\u201d into Wiscasset Speedway"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_16983\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16983\" class=\"wp-image-16983 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.maineracing.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/KR10-e1489532589462.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-16983\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">photo from Re Motorsports<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Story by Chris Roy<\/p>\n<p>Kate Re, of Lovell, ME is starting a new chapter in her racing career.\u00a0 \u201cI plan to run a full season at Wiscasset in the 4 Cyl Pro Division and continue to run my kart some in the Sr. Sportsman Division at Richmond Karting Speedway.\u00a0 I also plan to participate in some kart races out of state as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Though Kate has been racing this winter she has been busy, \u201cDuring the off season I\u2019ve mostly been working on the car, preparing for the upcoming season.\u00a0 I\u2019ve also been spending time with family, snowmobiling and going to school.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Being in a new type of race car, there is an adjustment period on learning the setup for the race car as well as a new race track, as The Re race team gets ready for the 2017 season. So is the team ready for opening day at Wiscasset on April 22<sup>nd<\/sup>. \u00a0\u00a0\u201cNot quite yet.\u00a0 We need to get the motor back in and have stickered.\u00a0 There are some final touches and set ups we need to do as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to get some seat time and practice during the winter months, \u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve had very little seat time in the car, but I\u2019m excited for the season.\u00a0 I was able to have a little practice just before Christmas but the track was fairly wet so I was unable to go \u201cfull speed\u201d.\u00a0 The main focus that day was learning how to shift.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Kate will be busy this race season with a full race schedule at Wiscasset and a limited schedule at RKS, looking forward to getting her 1<sup>st<\/sup> Pro 4 win. \u201cOur plan is to run a full schedule and if possible try for Rookie of the year.\u00a0 This is my first time in a full size car so this season is all about learning, I\u2019m hoping to be competitive and finish races.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So how does the 4 cyl pro compare to the karts she raced last season, \u201cI\u2019m not really sure how to compare the two because I haven\u2019t driven the car enough to know.\u00a0 So far I can tell the steering is similar in both, I barely have to turn the wheel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Kate won the 2016 Sportsman Championship last season at Richmond Karting Speedway. \u201c We plan to do some, both in state and out; but our main focus will be on the car and learning that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As well as driving Kate isn\u2019t afraid to get her hands greasy turning a wrench or two. \u201c Yes, I don\u2019t feel its right to let other people do all the work when I\u2019m driving the car.\u00a0 It helps me learn more about the car and also how to fix things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Kate\u2019s dad and crew chief Rick is also on a learning curve as well, going from working on the setup of the car as well as the engine on the 4 cylinder pro.
