{"id":1897,"date":"2007-08-13T13:34:23","date_gmt":"2007-08-13T13:34:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maineracer.com\/wp\/?p=1897"},"modified":"2007-08-13T13:34:23","modified_gmt":"2007-08-13T13:34:23","slug":"speedway-95-news-release-08-11-07","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/2007\/08\/speedway-95-news-release-08-11-07\/","title":{"rendered":"Speedway 95 News Release 08-11-07"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">peedway 95 News Release 08-11-07<\/span> <\/p>\n<p> By Bill DaButler <\/p>\n<p> (Hermon, Me) Two drivers began their weekend tied in the standings for the Strictly Street Series, and one was crowned champion at Speedway 95 in Hermon, on Saturday, August 11th <\/span><br \/><!--more--><br \/><span> Rowland, &ldquo;Jr. Rockin&rsquo;&rdquo; Robinson of Steuben and Jim Carr, Jr. of Clifton were tied in the standings coming into Saturdays 3rd and final series race. Carr took the win in the heat race, and inherited the point&rsquo;s lead, but Robinson, in a borrowed car, moved to the front of the field to take in the win Ellsworth&rsquo;s Brad Norris. Carr, who finished third, took second in the final standings. <\/p>\n<p> Points Leader Paul White of Corinna took the pole for the Dysart&rsquo;s Pro-Stocks, and held the top spot to the checkered flag, despite two cautions. Ryan Deane of Winterport finished second, and heat race winner, and defending champion, John Phippen, Jr. of Town Hill finished in the third spot. <\/p>\n<p> In the Limited Sportsman Division, Brenton Parritt of Steuben was the race leader at lap 22, when Deane Smart of Bradley nosed his way past Parritt to take the win. Parritt settled for second, and Fred &ldquo;Pee Wee&rdquo; Brown of Winterport grabbed the third place finish. <\/p>\n<p> Keith Pierce of Hudson crossed the line for the win in the Super Streets, with defending champion John Kalel, II of Orrington behind him in second. Greg Pung of Franklin joined the winner&rsquo;s circle third, while rookie Kevin Colson of Orrington grabbed the fourth spot with a last lap pass over point&rsquo;s leader Steve Moulton of Glenburn. <\/p>\n<p> Mike Hopkins made it three in a row by earning the win in the Sport-Four division, Steve Heath of Brownville captured second, and Spencer Garvin of Belfast took third. Point&rsquo;s leader Lewis Batchelder of Dixmont and David Green of Hampden, ran each other hard, Batchelder was sent to the rear as a penalty, while Green was sent back to the pits. <\/p>\n<p> The Quirk Chevrolet Super Cup Series arrived at the track for the final race in the American Mini-Cup Series, and the National Championship. A father and son were in victory lane. Josh Ireland of Howland took the win, his father, Fred Ireland came in second. Rich Hall of Mechanic Falls took third.
