CHARLOTTE, NC (August 7) \u2013 After competing at Virginia\u2019s South Boston Speedway for over a decade, Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model teams have added importance for this Saturday night\u2019s Davenport Energy 150 at the famed 4\/10-mile speedway. As part of the \u201cRoads To Oxford & Richmond\u201d program, the top five finishers in this weekend\u2019s race will get guaranteed starting spots for two of the biggest short track races of the season. These select drivers will have the option to be locked into either the 45th Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway later this month or the inaugural PASS Commonwealth Classic at Richmond Raceway in October.

The Oxford 250 has a reputation for being the hardest asphalt race in North America to qualify for, with nearly 70 PASS Super Late Models expected to try and make the field and compete for up to $50,000 to win. While the inaugural Commonwealth Classic at the 3\/4-mile Richmond Raceway in October will see the PASS Super Late Models compete for $10,000 to win at one of the premier short tracks in the country, along with Tour-Type Modifieds, the Solid Rock Carriers Late Model Stocks, Limited Late Models, and Street Stocks. Both Oxford and Richmond are expected to be two of the biggest draws in asphalt short track racing this year.<\/p>\n

Defending South Boston winner and two-time PASS South champion, Matt Craig, holds a slim 24 point advantage over fellow teenager, Kodie Conner. Consistency has been the key for Canadian veteran, JP Josiasse, who sits third in points and plans to once again make the 20-plus hour trip to South Boston from Ontario. Defending rookie-of-the-year, Roy Hayes sits fourth in points, ahead of veterans Jody Measamer and Tate Fogleman. While 2018 rookie contender, Gracie Trotter, and Jeff Batten round out the top eight in points heading to South Boston this weekend.<\/p>\n

South Boston Speedway was lightning fast last year with a completely new asphalt surface, but expect more two and three wide racing this year from the PASS South Super Late Models as the track has aged and seen over a year\u2019s worth of racing on the new surface. <\/p>\n

All the action gets under way on Friday at South Boston Speedway with open practice for all competing divisions from 10 AM\u2013 4 PM. On Saturday, practice will begin at 2 PM with qualifying starting at 5 PM for the PASS South Super Late Models and NASCAR Late Model Stocks, followed by the pit party at 6 PM and main events scheduled to start at approximately 7 PM. <\/p>\n
