While their southern counterparts, the PASS South Super Late Models, will have a shot to get locked into the 250 or at Richmond Raceway down at Virginia\u2019s South Boston Speedway.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nIt will be the first time New England\u2019s top Super Late Model drivers have competed at the track, formerly known as Riverside Speedway, since Trevor Sanborn won there in 2010.  This special event Powered By Autosaver Group will be 151 laps in honor of the track\u2019s current name.<\/p>\n<p>Coming in to this weekend\u2019s action, the battle for New England\u2019s most prestigious short track championship continues to be a hot one.  DJ Shaw, the former two-time PASS North series champion, is not a stranger to winning in the Granite State, but has never won at Speedway 51.  Shaw has a lead of 28 points over Travis Benjamin, with fellow New Hampshire driver, Derek Griffith, not far behind in third.<\/p>\n<p>With only two races left until the 45th Annual Clark\u2019s Scrap Metal Oxford 250 and the chance to win up to $50,000, Super Late Model drivers from around the country are running out of chances to perfect their setup prior to the biggest race of the year.  The southeast\u2019s best will have their final chance on Saturday night at South Boston Speedway in the Davenport Energy 150.  Not only will it be a chance for the top five finishers to get locked into the 250, but they will have the option to use that guaranteed starting spot in the inaugural Commonwealth Classic at nearby Richmond Raceway in October.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, two-time defending PASS South champion, Matt Craig, leads the standings over Kodie Conner and Canadian, JP Josiasse.  While each of them are entered for South Boston, they will be joined by several strong contenders including former series champions, Tyler Church and Tate Fogleman, who will by flying to South Boston following his Truck Series start at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday afternoon.  Veterans Brandon Setzer, Jeff Batten, and Brandon Lynn, will be joined by rookie drivers Gracie Trotter and Sterling Cling.<\/p>\n<p>All the action gets under way on Friday at South Boston Speedway Speedway with practice starting at 10 AM.
