The highlight of the upcoming weekend will be Sunday afternoon&rsquo;s running  of the Coastal 200 presented by H.C. Crooker &amp; Son&rsquo;s of Topsham.<\/span><br \/><!--more--><br \/><span>The crown jewel in the Wiscasset schedule will draw many of the top Late Model  drivers in the northeast and pay the winner of the 200 lap race $10,000 out of  the $30,000 purse. 2-time PASS champion Johnny Clark of Farmingdale is one  driver who is excited about going back to Wiscasset. When the race was announced  in January at the Northeast Motor Sports Expo, Clark said &ldquo;I don&rsquo;t care what&rsquo;s  going on that weekend, I&rsquo;m gonna get a ride and I will be in that race&rdquo;. Back in  1997, the then 17-year old, Clark beat Maine racing legend Stan Messerve to win  his first career Prostock race, the Coastal 150. He has secured a ride from  track owner Dave St Clair and will return to his home track as one of the  pre-race favorites this year. Among the local drivers shooting for the big  payday will be Wiscasset&rsquo;s current Late Model point leader Chris Thorne of  Sidney who won on opening day as well as young hot-shot Nick Reno of West Bath  who, despite destroying his primary car a week ago, remains just four points  behind Thorne with a feature win of his own. Former Prostock veterans Jason  Oakes and Steve Reny of Boothbay have both returned to their roots with early  season wins at Wiscasset as well. Track officials say the race should be wide  open with driver interest coming from Massachusetts up to the Canadian  Maritimes. One significant issue in format for the Late Models will be the use  of two-way radios. While Wiscasset&rsquo;s weekly LMS division does not use radios,  instead using Race-eivers, which connect all drivers to one track official, the  Coastal 200 will allow all teams to use two-way radios. Track announcer Ken  Minott explained the change in policy. &ldquo;This is a big race with a lot of money  and prestige on the line. We want to give all drivers, the ones coming from  other tracks as well as our own guys, every opportunity for comfort, safety and  success. We don&rsquo;t want an issue like this to keep anyone from coming to this  race. We&rsquo;ll go back to using the Race-eivers after the Coastal 200.&rdquo;  <\/p>\n<p>The doubleheader weekend will start Saturday May 26th at 6:00pm  with double points on the line for all weekly divisions except for the Late  Model Sportsmen. Fans will still get a chance to watch the LMS cars in several  practice sessions intermixed with the Saturday night show, but the Late Models  will not run a feature in preparation for the next day&rsquo;s big race. The Late  Models will run the makeup of the double point Bruce Kane Memorial on June 2nd.  The Sunday May 27th show will start at 12:00 noon with Late Model heats followed  by extended lap features only for Super Streets (35), Strictly Streets (30) and  Stock Mini&rsquo;s (30). The Teen division and Ladies Division will run their regular  length 10 lap features. The program will close with the running of the Coastal  200 presented by H.C. Crooker. In the event of rain, the Coastal 200 will be  made up on Monday May 28th. While Saturday&rsquo;s show will charge regular adult  grandstand admission of $10 and Sunday&rsquo;s show a $15 grandstand ticket, fans  wishing to attend both days may purchase a discounted 2-day combo ticket of $20.  There are also special 2-day combo prices available for seniors, students and  children.
