{"id":2205,"date":"2010-08-24T00:15:14","date_gmt":"2010-08-24T00:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maineracer.com\/wp\/?p=2205"},"modified":"2010-08-24T00:15:14","modified_gmt":"2010-08-24T00:15:14","slug":"race-results-for-august-20th-at-lee-usa-speedway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/2010\/08\/race-results-for-august-20th-at-lee-usa-speedway\/","title":{"rendered":"RACE RESULTS FOR AUGUST 20th AT LEE USA SPEEDWAY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p \/>Lee, NH: \u00a0Looking for his second straight championship in the NASCAR Whelen<br \/> All-American Series Late Models, Wayne Helliwell, Jr. continued his quest<br \/> for the 2010 title at Lee USA Speedway on Friday night, notching win number<br \/> seven of the year in the E Keys 4 Cars-sponsored feature event.<\/p>\n<p> Rookie Travis Canney set the pace in the early laps, but he quickly fell to<br \/> the charge of Bryan Kruczek, who took over the lead with Helliwell right in<br \/> his tire tracks. \u00a0Kruczek held on to the top spot for the next several<br \/> circuits, but the points leader eventually made his way past.<br \/>\n<br \/><!--more--><\/p>\n<p> When flagman Bryon Callen dropped the checkers on the field, it was<br \/> Helliwell taking down the win n over a late-closing Miles Chipman. \u00a0Veteran<br \/> Steve Knowlton, a former Pro Stock champion at Lee USA took third, with<br \/> Kruczek and Pat Floyd rounding out the top five.<\/p>\n<p> An enthusiastic crowd of well-wishers joined defending champion Dan Bowes in<br \/> victory lane after he successfully completed his comeback from injuries<br \/> suffered in a non-racing accident. \u00a0It was Bowes&#8217; first PB Chopper Shop and<br \/> Rods Small Block Super win of the season.<\/p>\n<p> George Perreault, Jr. led the early laps in that feature before losing the<br \/> position to Billy Osborne, but nobody had anything Bowes, who ran his<br \/> patented outside groove to the lead. \u00a0Once out front, he pulled and led the<br \/> field under the checkers in his family-owned entry.<\/p>\n<p> Osborne held on to collect a solid runner-up finish, with &#8220;Super Dave&#8221;<br \/> Sanborn, Steve Dickey, Jr., Mike Netishen, Eddie Witkum, Jr., points leader<br \/> Tommy Tombarello, Jr., Mike Spurling, Perreault, and T.J. Laro finishing up<br \/> the top ten.<\/p>\n<p> Points leader Grant Aither was knocked out of action as a result of an<br \/> early-race wreck in the Prime Storage Late Model Sportsman main, with Bobby<br \/> Melvin and Billy Ryder also forced to the sidelines for the remainder of the<br \/> race.<\/p>\n<p> Jesse Bousquet paced the field for the first six laps, but second place<br \/> points man Tony Kawejsza was looking to take advantage of Aither&#8217;s<br \/> misfortune, and he worked past Bousquet to take over the top spot on lap<br \/> seven, opening up a few car lengths on the field.<\/p>\n<p> Sparky MacIver eventually reeled him in and was all over Kawejsza&#8217;s back<br \/> bumper for the last few laps, but Tony K held on to score his second win of<br \/> the 2010 campaign. \u00a0MacIver, Ryan Green, Bill Ahern, Ron Bolduc, Bousquet,<br \/> rookie Josh Ball, Michele Fushpanski, and Larry Maloney were next across the<br \/> stripe.<\/p>\n<p> Double features were on tap for the Picnic Table Factory Hobby Stocks, with<br \/> veteran Patrick Tanguay rebounding from a heat race incident to collect his<br \/> second win of the season in the first race, and rookie Mike Williams taking<br \/> his second of the year in the nightcap.<\/p>\n<p> Stephen Dubois ran off to the early lead in the first feature, but Tanguay<br \/> got by in the late stages of the race and went on to collect the win. \u00a0Mark<br \/> Parenteau took second, with Williams, Dubois, points leader Todd Bregy,<br \/> Chris Kingsley, Brian Thompson, Niko Manyati, Joe Edwards, and Doug Dawkins<br \/> following.<\/p>\n<p> Bregy worked his way to the front, and remained there well past halfway in<br \/> the second race, but Williams reeled him in and took command with the laps<br \/> winding down. \u00a0At the checkers, it was Williams, Bregy, Parenteau, Bobby<br \/> Glass, Dubois, Ron Washburn, Tanguay, Randy Carmichael, and Kingsley.<\/p>\n<p> Chris Martel led the first five laps of the American Auto Parts Ironman man,<br \/> but Kyle Roy moved past at that point to take over, and he went the distance<br \/> to pick up the win. \u00a0Martel checkered second, with points leader Jack<br \/> Victoria, Matt Lambert, Glen Billings, Jason Hodgdon, Kevin Emery, Alan<br \/> Myer, Jeff Nadeau, and Evan Horvath the rest of the top ten.<\/p>\n<p> Shaun Waites, Jr. scored a popular win in the David&#8217;s Race Cars and<br \/> Components Roadrunner feature, holding off rookie Dylan Bilodeau to make the<br \/> trip to victory lane. \u00a0Points leader Lloyd Chapin, Troy Washburn, and Torrey<br \/> Kovalesky finished up the top five.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lee, NH: \u00a0Looking for his second straight championship in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Models, Wayne Helliwell, Jr. continued his quest for the 2010 title at Lee USA Speedway on Friday night, notching win number seven of the year in the E Keys 4 Cars-sponsored feature event.
