{"id":2248,"date":"2010-07-28T02:40:50","date_gmt":"2010-07-28T02:40:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maineracer.com\/wp\/?p=2248"},"modified":"2010-07-28T02:40:50","modified_gmt":"2010-07-28T02:40:50","slug":"nemst-ready-to-converge-on-thompson-international-speedway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/2010\/07\/nemst-ready-to-converge-on-thompson-international-speedway\/","title":{"rendered":"NEMST Ready to Converge on Thompson International Speedway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">For  the first time in NEMST\u2019s brief history the touring series is heading  to one of the fastest racing facilities in New England.<span> <\/span>Thompson  International Speedway is hosting their inaugural Mini Stock Challenge  featuring a 15 lap NASCAR mini stock race, a 20 lap NEMST points race,  and then taking the top ten from each race and holding a 20 lap mini  stock shootout to see who has the fastest mini in the north east. The  winner of the shootout event will be rewarded with additional purse as  well as a guaranteed starting spot in the four cylinder nationals being  held at Seekonk Speedway on October 2<sup>nd<\/sup>.<br \/>\n<br \/><!--more--><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">The cars will be able to reach speeds of over 105MPH down the drag strip like straights.<span> <\/span>The NEMST drivers are going to have to learn the track quickly to keep up with the Thompson regulars.<span> <\/span>Defending  NEMST champion Emerson Cayer stepped up to the plate and raced the fast  5\/8 mile last week to gain all the experience he could. Hot shot rookie  Chris McKinstry will be sure to catch on quickly and try to pull back  his point lead after technical inspection difficulties at White  Mountain. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Thursday  racing activites start at 3 PM with the opening of the pit gate and  practice at 3:30. Qualifying heats will be run at 6:00 and features  starting at 6:45. We would like to invite anyone that has yet to see the  NEMST in action to come check us out on our first ever visit to  southern New England!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">The NEMST has had quite an off stretch since White Mountain on July 3<sup>rd<\/sup>, that featured a rain out at Unity on July 11<sup>th<\/sup> with a 24 car field waiting in the pit area, that has been rescheduled to October 10<sup>th<\/sup>.
